The Ophiopogon root came in a sealed bottle. Large perfect pieces with no crumbs or small bits. flavor is rich and deep similar to ginseng. I normally drink this as a tea by adding some goji berries to it as well, doesn't take much to get the flavor out, I put 3 roots in a cup of tea.
