Much better than the first version.
You can actually see the blue coloring in the updated version of the refill. I like the Fluidmaster system because it puts the cleaner in the water that goes into the bowl while the tank is filling. It is easy to change refills. They even give you a sealable bag to put the used refill in for disposal.

Works perfectly.
It's super easy, barely an inconvenience to install. You just clip it into the tank and put the little hoses into the right places and you're good. Honestly, it should take less than 5 minutes to install and no tools required for most toilets. It's fantastic. No matter how much work or disinfectants you put into cleaning the inside ring you can't see, it just can't get rid of everything in there. (Yeah the inside ring is the ring that sprays the water into the bowl when you flush it. It's just under the outside ring of the bowl. You can't wipe it, it's covered). It doesn't matter though, with this device it just kills all the bacteria in the whole bowl system, even the inner ring. Great product.

Cleans with Every Flush
This product can last up to a few months depending on how often the toilet is flushed. Not sure of the consistency of the product because sometimes it looks like it is purple. This product won't completely clean your toilet, but it will definitely help you scrub the toilet less. I prefer the blue look over the clear look, since I will know when it stops working. And this product won't damage the toilet parts since the cleaning product is funneled into the water supply line as opposed to sitting in the tank.

Defective batch, replacements are on their way.
We have been using the Fluidmaster 8202P8 Flush 'n Sparkle Bio Balance Septic Refills for over a year in 3 bathrooms. We have averaged 2 months per refill. Recently, we switched to the Fluidmaster 8102 Flush 'n Sparkle Cleaning Refills because of their lower price. Unfortunately, all of our experiences with the model #8102 (blue cartridge) have been unsatisfactory. Out of four cartridges, none have lasted over a week. The cartridges turn the water to an extreme bluish color for the first two days. After that, the bluish color rapidly dissipated to a clear color in about a week's time. We have experienced similar duration times in three separate bathrooms. Only two people live in our newly constructed house.I have attempted to contact Fluidmaster's customer service at (800) 631-2011 multiple times. Unfortunately, every call went to voicemail because of extremely high call volumes. I left a voicemail as directed. However, Fluidmaster never called as promised.UPDATE:I finally spoke to customer service. They indicated that I may have received a bad batch of cartridges. Customer service was apologetic and professional. They are sending me replacement cartridges to correct the problem. This was my first bad experience with the cartridge duration time. As stated prior, I have been averaging over a two month duration time. During that time, the bowl remains reasonably clean. Every other week, I do make a few passes with the brush to remove a slight buildup on the bowl. No scrubbing is needed. The buildup comes off upon contact.

Blue refills are not worth the money
Fluidmaster was recommended to me by a plumber, and I've been using it for years. I recently got the blue version (it was slightly cheaper than the clear) for the 4 toilets in my house.I hate the blue version. The product doesn't clean the bowl as well as the original. When I changed the refill (with an original refill) on all 4 toilets, the blue gunk was clogging the refill - which explains why the bowl water was either clear or barely blue. The bowl doesn't stay clean with the blue as long as with the uncolored refills. Now there are no original refills on Amazon. Even though it was on my subscriptions, I don't recall receiving a notice they were not going to sell the original anymore. If Fluidmaster won't sell their original refills, I will not be buying Fluidmaster anymore.

Dissapointed. These do not work like the old ones.
This is going to be a long review.First off, let me say i have been using this product for years. I actually stockpiled several refills years ago when my local hardware store decided to stop selling them. I relied on these very heavily because my water is very hard and it helped keep my bowl clean between manual cleanings so I don't need to spend as much time cleaning calcified deposits out of the bowl. I really liked them, even though they were expensive and never got the amount of time out of a cartridge that i hoped. This year i used up the last of my stockpiled cartridges and ordered these (same model number).Immediately i could tell a difference. Previously, when i first installed a cartridge, the water would be so blue it would be almost opaque. The cleaning action was good too. When i installed this new one, the blue dye was faint, almost at the level of 4 weeks use on the old ones. The blue dye is cosmetic, so i figured there was a formula change and waited to see how well it worked. After only a month there was very little color left, and it definitely wasn't doing the cleaning job well (was back to alot of manual labor to clean the bowel).I contacted the company. They said there was no change in the product formula, and sent me two replacement cartridges and a prepaid box to return the one unused cartridge from the box that I had a bad experience with. When I tried to remove the new cartridge from the dispenser (no longer any blue color and not working for cleaning) i found the dispenser was full of thick gooey blue sludge which was not dissolving easily. I removed the dispenser and rinsed it clean in the kitchen sink (took a long time). The new cartridge that the company sent me was better, but also CLEARLY different. The blue tint was again not anywhere near as dark as the older ones that i ran out of, but it was much better than the last one. So clearly, despite what the company says, the formulation HAS changed. This new one was helping to clean, unlike the last one.Today the blue dye was almost gone again, so i went to replace the cartridge. I pulled it out and found that it wasn't empty, and again the dispenser was full of blue sludge (but not as bad as the last cartridge). Removing it and re-inserting it seems to have displaced the sludge enough that the cleaner is coming out with strong color again. I'm going to try this trick for the next few weeks when the dye fades again. It seems pretty clear that the formulation of this has changed, and the stuff turns into blue sludge (at least in hard water). I'm not sure what I'm going to do, because, as i said, I really rely on these things. Maybe I'll try the bleach cartridges instead.

DOSN'T LIVE UP TO THE CLAIMS.
Purchased this from Amazon US as they are not available in Australia even tho Fluidmaster toilet cistern spares are,I spoke with Fluidmaster here in Australia told him i had a Coroma float in my cistern and he told me how to make it work for the Fluidmaster device. It works as is described in the brochure/ add but the colour/cleaner cartridge seems to clog up and doesn't allow the product to dispense. Searching through my shed i found a Fluidmaster valve and float assembly purchased as a replacement along time back but never got around to using it, I will install this in my cistern although the operation appears to be the same hookup as the Coroma float, If it works I will modify this review to reflect same.

Remember to flush at least once a day
These work great but they can vary in time they last depending on frequency of flushes; obviously. However, if you have several toilets in your house and you leave one for several days without flushing, the water will be concentrated with this cleaner and may be clumpy or gel like. Just flush several times and it will clear. It has left blue stains on the toilet bowl but it can easily wipe off.

Really works
Works really well. I had stains that I had to scrub every time I cleaned the toilet. I scrubbed them clean before I installed Fluidmaster and the stains didn't come back. I still have to clean the toilet once in a while but I just have to use a toilet brush and it cleans it easily.
