I waited way too long to purchase my Flair vent system as I was leaning towards a zoned duct control system instead. The costs would have been significantly higher (up to 5 times more in parts alone) but also the install would have been a major pain for me to DIY. The Flair vents were easy to install, the app setup was straightforward with the light layout on the vents used to identify which ones were for which rooms. I love that I can set the schedule to deactivate rooms when they are not in use and have it regulate the temperature in the active ones during those days/times. I did mess up a setting by changing the Default Hold Duration setting to forever (supposed to be the default option Until Next Scheduled Event) which caused my schedule not to work but Flair support got this identified and resolved quickly. I now have everything how I want it and the room leveling is perfect (was up to 5-6 degrees difference in some rooms). It is also awesome to be able to change the temperature on-demand in the rooms when needed. So far I am very happy with my purchase, but wish I had done this sooner.

My bedroom gets too hot at night when we close the door. I got this to see if it would help. First, when attaching the battery holder in back, have to be careful to push it in as much as you can when you screw it in, and not over tighten the screws. This battery holder needs a better design. After pushing and screwing, and trying it a few times I was able to get it to work. The issue is there is a connector that is part of the battery holder and it has to be pushed in all the way, but when you put the batteries in from the other side, they are trying to push the holder and the connector out. But I did get it to work. Second, the nice looking white grill that goes over the top causes a lot of noise when the air blows through it. My wife nixed it the first night. The second night I removed the cover and then it's a lot quieter. The good news is that when the smart vent is closed, it is quiet - there's not much leakage. I've also been looking at getting a new heater and doing zoning. I think the Heating and AC manufactures are ignoring what customers are asking for. They talk about having to having sufficient airflow, and they have this idea of the whole house being the same temperature, or they can give you 4 big zones. I want to put a vent and a thermostat in every room with a door, let people choose their own temperatures. and if there's not enough airflow then the Heater/AC needs to adapt - NOT ME. I think Smart Vents are a really good idea, with a little more improvement needed, and H/AC manufactures need to get with the program.

UPDATE Flair customer service were very quick and responsive to help with this issue. It seems to be working now where I have the functionality to have the vent at closed, half open and full open. I was able to set an offset in the flair app so that the puck is showing an accurate temperature. It's still not great for 100 dollars but this system is better than anything else on the market for now. I bought this product for my baby’s room. The half open setting was perfect for that room. At other times it was convenient to switch between open and closed too. However, Flair removed that setting since then. The vent can only be open or closed which in a way defeats the purpose of a digital vent. I am outside the return window and now have a product that is different than how it was originally described. The Flair puck that you have to buy with it is always off by 3 to 4 degrees. I would say with Flair deciding for the consumer to take away this feature, and a defective design, no one should pay 200 dollars for a system with unpredictable features.

I ran a 12V line to feed the vent because I did not want to rely on batteries. The problem with the vent is that the connector for 12V wires is very small and does not hold on to the wire. When using the vent, it takes up to a minute for it to respond to the controller. It took me a few week to really get into the system. Thanks to the customer service, I have been able to make it work.

Worked great for 1 year, then one of the vents batteries died. Replaced. No problem. But then the app had some update that moved vents to different “rooms” and my sons room got to 82 and my office which was supposed to be closed is 72. Wow! Thermostat is set to 76. It completely flipped the vents to the opposite rooms! Now they won’t even open manually or anything. Extremely infuriating.. Update: now they won’t even open when in manual mode Edit: i did hear from flair support: I deleted everything and resynced with ecobee and it worked for 3 days then the schedule broke again. Then they said to hold off on any schedule for a week or more so that they could repair something on their end that caused the issue. It took about a week and we are back to having a working s huddle and are problem free for the last 3 months.
