Not well for Switches
I can see the idea, but this did not work well with my new 16 port TP Link switch.1) As others have mentioned, the velcro is almost too wide to fit through the openings. This may be on purpose to ensure a tight fit, but it makes the "install" relatively difficult.2) Using two velcro straps to go across the switch width-wise, the straps end up blocking some of the ports.3) Using one velcro strap to go across the switch length-wise, I was unable to get the strap tight enough to hold the switch in place.4) Regardless of velcro orientation, I was struggling to find a good area to run the power cord to allow it to plug into the switch. This may work better for other components or people smarter than I am, but I've returned this for now as I could not get it to work for me.

Bit awkward for freestanding devices
Bought this to organize my at-home OnQ panel with a 16-port switch and AT&T modem. Unfortunately the full width plate doesn't leave enough room on either side for the switch to sit flat, so rather than cut it to size I opted to strap it sitting off angle. The reuseable velcro straps are a nice touch.Ultimately if you have devices big enough to require the full-width plate, you might be better off just running cables into a small rack.

Supplied Velcro straps too wide to go through the horizontal loops on the full-width plate
Both the half and full width fit my 2005 OnQ enclosure perfectly. The Velcro supplied with the half width works in both sets and loops, however that supplied with the full width only work well for running vertically. They are too wide to go through the loops to hold an item wrapped around "at the waist". For example, I want my network switch ports to be on the top and run the Velcro horizontally around the body so that it doesn't get in the way of the ports. I had narrower Velcro on hand, but otherwise you'll need to get the scissors out.

but just seems like it could have had a few additional
The bracket worked, but just seems like it could have had a few additional, and trivial features, such as:--a deeper base; it could be an inch deeper and be more suitable for slightly larger components (like the DSL modem/router supplied by my TV/internet provider)--a narrower base; the standard data cabinets that these fit usually have wire runs along the sides, and this didn't really leave a lot of space--better placement of the notches/holes for velcro, or even more notches; I feel like 6 sets of notches instead of 4 would be better. The component I mounted takes up about 75% of the width, which means I could only use the inner notches if I wanted to leave ample space on the sides for port access and lights/buttons visibility. I had to move it to the side of the bracket for better mounting stability--better "Velcro", or adjustable nylon straps instead. I wish that the included hook-and-look strips were 1 continuous length rather than 4 pieces so that I could have cut-to-length 2 pieces rather than having to rig up strips with multiple pieces. I also had to come up with a clever way to make the ends accessible so that I can remove the component without having to remove the bracket from the cabinet. The system doesn't allow for a snug strap, which is why the adjustable straps may have been better.Part otherwise seems fine, but a little too basic for the price paid.

This is NOT a universal mounting shelf it will not install in a Leviton Structured Media Cabinet!
I purchased this On Q “Universal” Structured Media Cabinet Shelf to mount my video NVR. Was not able to return to home to install this until May (2 weeks beyond my return window - naturally), and when I attempted to mount into my Leviton 42” structured media cabinet I found the mounting hooks were too large for the pre-drilled holes in the Leviton cabinet making it impossible to mount without altering the universal sized holes in my Leviton media cabinet or by grinding down the hook/tabs on the On Q shelf. I believe the item was falsely advertised as “Universal” and should be removed from Amazon’s site unit it is universal or listed to work with what ever media cabinet it fits, which is not Leviton!
