I've used K&N filters for the last 20 years. Mainly because I can clean it instead of replace. I had a drop in put in my Jetta, and while it's not like it added 50hp, it helped with throttle response, but nothing as noticeable as the one I put in my Jeep. It's like a different engine. It's like the 3.6 can breathe for the first time. Acceleration is VERY smooth from a stop, without the bucking and bogging down of the stock style filter. It pulls harder, requires much less throttle input, and with a stick shift, hauls a$$ like a scolded dog if you get on it. I've always liked the brand, but this is the first application where the hype isn't hype. So watching to see if the gas milage improves as much as others report.

For those who don't know- these filters come pre-oiled. I made the mistake of oiling one for my motorcycle and it sucked some in the MAF sensor. After drying it in the sun and wind for a few days no problems. I want to say my MPG and performance increased but it could be just in my head. The biggest thing for me with K&N filters is they can be cleaned and reused. Simple, easy. For any off-road vehicle, I would suggest buying two. That way you always have one if you need to change it out on the trail or one to run while cleaning and re-oiling the other. I prefer the drop in as opposed to the CAI (cold air intake) dust? mud? water?

I bought this for new Jeep Wrangler 14 and it does not fit correctly as small gap which prevents it sealing I used black tape to make the seal and it's on needs to be modified.
