Can the ribbon be sewn onto a velvet quilt that is dry cleaned?

I sewed this ribbon onto a dress for my daughter and I have machine washed and dried it and the ribbon still looks new!

Does the black ribbon have a finished edge, like the brown and ribbon and other colors? It’s hard to tell from the pictures. Thank you in advance.
