Great little radio with very good reception!
It's easy to store stations to its memory for future access.

Special purpose radio; less suitable for general listening
If you're looking for a pocket radio mostly for AM, FM, and shortwave, this HRD-737 radio costs too much for the level of performance you get. On the other hand, for certain special situations, this radio lets you get a whole lot of different frequencies in a very small size, which could suit some users' needs. For example, you might want to monitor a particular VHF frequency or CB channel to hear any important radio traffic, or possibly you travel a lot by air and would like to be able to hear the control tower communications while you're waiting for your flight. You could just slip this radio into your shirt pocket and have instant access to these kinds of things. Performance varies across the bands. Medium Wave (AM) is fairly weak; you only get local and strong regional stations. FM is reasonably sensitive but not all that selective. Strong stations interfere somewhat with weaker ones on a nearby frequency. Shortwave works surprisingly well with the included wire antenna, and you can get stronger shortwave stations with nothing but the small telescopic antenna. But again, for the price of this radio you can get others that are better on all of these bands, though they are bigger and won't fit in a shirt pocket. The only things I can receive on the VHF frequencies at my location are local NOAA weather radio and spurious signals that bleed over from nearby FM stations. Air band is not too bad, though, and it's easy to see why they've marketed this largely as an air band radio. But you do need to be fairly close to an airport to get the best performance. I am able to pick up the automated weather information frequency from an airport that's about 4 miles away but it's weak. All in all this is a radio that does have some good functionality in situations where you need something really small and the signals you're looking for are fairly strong. But if you don't need air band or VHF and want a very small digital pocket radio for AM/FM/SW broadcast listening, consider the Eton Elite Mini Compact AM/FM/SW radio. which is about the same size and currently costs a little less on Amazon. I have that radio as well. In a side-by-side comparison it performed better than this one on FM and about the same on AM (medium wave) and shortwave.

A little bit of a learning curve, but a powerful radio
This was a little difficult to learn, the book was not the easiest to understand, but once I figured it out, the radio is awesome, I can scan shortwave, CB, listen to AM/FM radio, or the weather station, the long antennae was able to pull in a station when I was way up in the mountains, when my car could not get a signal on its radio, so it is a powerful little radio. The battery seems to last a long time, and it is a great addition to my emergency pack in the car.

Junk
This radio is junk. Clunky interface and the only bands that work are AM, FM. Save your money.
