This was a birthday present for a seven-year-old boy. He loved it! And moreover, I was extremely impressed with the quality of the pieces. There are about 10 pirates in various costumes and carrying various weapons and they are all posed in very detailed positions and painted very realistically with detailed face expressions..There’s a small canon that actually shoots miniature plastic cannon balls, very well thought out! There is a rowboat and a pirate ship and the row boat has slots so you can stand a pirate up in the boat. It’s these details that make a toy like this more engaging for a child.The pirate ship has lots of detail as well and there is a treasure chest with gold in it that actually opens up. It is it a never ending source of frustration when toy makers include containers in play kits that don’t open! The first thing a child wants to do is see what’s inside.All in all, I have played with hundreds of toys with my niece and nephew and this one seems the most user-friendly and conducive to imaginative play. I will let you know how it holds up over time. But as a self-contained game (it comes in its own case too) I think the pieces will all stay together and create hours of fun for my nephew. I couldn’t find anything I didn’t like about this pirate set. Therefore I am giving it five stars. It was an excellent price point too.

Our grandson really likes the small action figures of this play set. He has played with it for hours! Well worth the money spent. There are a couple of items that are kind of delicate, however. The palm trees are prone to breakage where gluing back together didn't work. He still plays with them when he is on a sleepover with us. Overall, a good purchase. Hope this helps.

Pros: lots of cool pieces, including a cannon that launches the 4 included cannon balls, and a shark that makes sound and eyes light up blue. Activate the lights and sounds by moving the fins. 8 different pirates are all different. The large treasure chest has permanently attached golden treasure inside, while the small treasure chest is empty and fits all 4 cannon balls and both money bags. Both chests open and latch closed. The row boat includes 2 oars and a tiller, and has grooves for pirate feet to stick into so they can stand in the boat. The pirate ship has a large main sail with plastic rope on the back that you can hook the arm and leg of a pirate into, and the helm (steering wheel thingy) actually spins. The pirate ship has 2 indentations that allow you to stand pirates up on deck. The tree and fern are a nice touch. The container it comes in can hold all of the pieces, just easilh take off the main sail for the lid to latch closed. Also includes 1 large barrel, 2 smaller barrels, and a food sack. Lots of fun pieces for the price.Cons: no assembly instructions, which was only a problem for the tree and the fern. FYI, the starfish shaped things... those are the base that the fern and tree snap into to stand them up. The darker green is the fern and the lighter green is the top of the tree. Pieces are definitely not proportional, so none of the cargo or cannon fit on the ships, and the large chest is as big as the pirate. But I doubt my kids will notice or care about the disproportionate sizes. 2 of my pirates will not stand unless they are stuck into the foot holds in the boat and ship.

Item arrived as promised and was exactly as described. These are colorful, detailed figures and just right for my grandson who has an old Imaginext Pirate ship. The characters do not have joints that move but they are just flexible enough to adjust their footing and posture so they can stand. The rowboat was excellent with its functional oarlocks and oars. The small sailing ship also was a adventurous complement to what my grandson had. The best surprise was the great white shark that made sounds and had blue glowing eyes when activated. All in all this purchase tripled the value and playing time for the old Imaginext Pirate ship. And the cannon worked and the treasure was cool. Ahoy!

This product was as advertised and all pieces were present and in good condition. Pieces were stable, pirates could stand, the ship was hilarious. My grandson spent an enormous amount of time shooting the cannon balls from the cannon....even 3 at once. The box was terrific for traveling. A treasure chest of fun for a little kid and grandmother.

Low quality, pieces arrived bent or broke within a few hours of play. Playset is a disjointed arrangement of themed toys. Pirates all are huge compared to the ship. Even the sharks fins broke off (EASILY) so it no longer lights up ( that part WAS pretty cool. 4 year old still plays with them but not much room for imaginative play using the playset as a collective

So I picked this one because my inner child loved the "butt" barrel. The general consensus is "booty" got lost in translation, though it was brought to my attention by a smarty pants friend that a "butt" is also a unit of measurement for wine. Anyway, my daughter is in kindergarten and her class has just started learning to read full words. So imagine my delight when she ran up to me with the barrel and excitedly said "look mom, it's pirate butt!!" That's the first word she has ever read in front of me. Seriously. Butt, anyway, she and her 4-yr old brother LOVE this set and are eating their dinner like perfect angels because that's the deal for them to play with it in their bath tonight. Quality seems reasonable for the price, and the cannon really shoots.

I recreated the first picture and it looks like I'm missing one of the little treasure chests, but no biggie because I got one little and one big. They also stopped printing "butt" on the barrels. I haven't given it to my kids yet, so I haven't tried out the shark but I bought the set to play in the bath so the shark wouldn't be used anyway. The pirates are the perfect size and the storage bucket is key! It's a nice pirate set and I would recommend!
