I bought this for the convenience factor because I was tired of hauling around those big bags of dried mushrooms you get at the Asian grocery store.And yes they are much more compact and take up almost no space. Each little box is about the size of a small box of wooden matches. But each one expands to make about three cups of mushrooms. I rehydrate them in a two cup wide mouth Mason jar with a lid. And they are super smashed inside of that jar. When I pour them into a proper measuring cup they fluff up to be at least three cups.I have seen other reviews that said that these mushrooms were small and cut up. In fact they are whole. They are small as each year is about the size of golf ball. For me, this is perfect because I can use them in most recipes without chopping them up. The other wonderful thing about these mushrooms is that there is no debris left on the stem end. So once they're hydrated you do not have to pick through them to clean off substrate.These will most definitely be on my reorder list. If I had one complaint it would be that the retail box is obnoxiously large for the amount of product that is in it. So you'll receive a cigar box size retail package that is covered in cellophane. When you remove the outer packaging you will have all of the cute little boxes of compressed mushrooms that only take up 50% of the box at most. But they are displayed in the box kind of like candy. Each of those little boxes is covered with cellophane. And then once you open the little box and take out the packet of mushrooms they too are covered in cellophane. So much plastic packaging! But I have no fear that these things would stay fresh on the bottom of the ocean if that's where they ended up. It's not much of a complaint but if I have to offer some sort of negative feedback to balance out my glowing review the packaging would be the one thing.

I guess I didn't read the description in detail or the photos might be misleading, but the product came in 10 individual small packages which seemed excessive. Each packet came sealed and highly compressed. The quality and taste of the mushroom was superb so I can’t really complain. After soaking in water for about a couple of hours the mushrooms expanded to the size most are familiar with. I cooked some Korean Japchae in a meal prep and it worked and tasted great.

Wow this little pack hydrates into A LOT! Do not underestimate the small box! It tastes good and was exactly what I was looking for. I honestly do not like any mushrooms/fungus but this is my favorite because of the rubbery texture. Quality was great and I would purchase again

These fungi rehydrate perfectly and in abundance. When the description says it will rehydrate to 10x, you should believe them!! I didn't on my first attempt at homemade hot & sour soup. I used 3 cubes and ended up with A LOT of mushrooms! Fortunately, I do really like them so it didn't hurt my feelings much. For some odd reason, on my 2nd attempt I decided to use 2 cubes. It was still A LOT of mushrooms. I believe the third time will be the charm as I am determined to use only one cube next time.

The media could not be loaded. I purchased this to try some Chinese recipes. The smaller, individually packaged portions seem helpful to avoid longer term spoiling of these dried mushrooms.

The mushroom had a bland taste.
