Spyder Active Sports Men's Leader GORE-TEX Insulated Ski Jacket

I was looking to replace an older Columbia Titanium Ballistic jacket that I had and loved for years. I couldn't seem to find anything in their current lineup that would match it in terms of features and durability. I thought I'd check out Spider as I have had a few friends with them over the years and they always seemed to be a solid coat choice. That's where I found this bad boy. My old coat was a 2XL and I knew it was too big so I stepped it down to only a 1XL this time. I'm 6-1 and 215 and this thing fits like a fine glove. Not puffy or baggy yet with room to move easily (plus it really didn't hinder my CCW). The sleeves are the perfect length and I love the thumb-hole cuffs! Plenty of pocket space both inside and outside the jacket with ones big enough to stuff goggles into. Built in lanyards keep your keys and the included chamois tethered securely. The removable hood is big enough and sculpted to fit most helmets. There is also a removable powder skirt inside. The insulation while seemingly thin is actually quite warm. The couple days I've been out in more rainy weather, it just beaded up and fell off easily. The quality of the fabric is good but I have to admit that's the one area I would like to see 1 notch tougher at least. I'm not saying it's cheap, I would just like it a little better. Then again I am using my Titanium Ballistic as a benchmark and that thing was all but bulletproof. It was like snowboarding armor. The fit and finish of the workmanship here are fantastic. Overall this is a great coat and while a bit pricey it should serve you well for quite a few years. (plus it looks FANTASTIC! It's so red it all but glows in the dark.)

I bought what I thought was going to be a nice thick ski jacket from Amazon for $60, but after wearing it a few times realized it was not going to hold up after hitting the mountains a few times. I decided to go with this, even though it's super expensive. But it's an investment, and one that's totally worth it. This jacket kept me so comfortably warm all day on with just an underarmour base layer, and a thin overshirt as a middle layer, with weather high of 16 F, and low of 7 F. It fits like a dream and and has all the perks you would want from a ski jacket, not to mention how awesome it looks. If you're planning on skiing for years to come, this is everything you could want out of a ski jacket.

My husband is using in Fairbanks and it’s been almost too warm for 20 degrees and held out well with high winds in the single digits to negative temps. Super high quality material and thoughtful features like pockets

Fits great, fantastic colour and as with all Spyder gear - extremely well made. With Gortex waterproofing and great insulation this is a perfect every day ski jacket

It's a Spider jacket. Does more need to be said. It's warm, comfortable, It's what I expected and I was fortunate enough to buy it on sale.

Water proof and warmth are really good. Pockets are too small.

Wanted to see my husband back in a red Spyder jacket & was holding out until I saw this one. We just got back from Vail & the jacket was great. A length my husband loves, easily adjustable cuffs, right amount of pockets. AND, they moved the under arm ventilation to the front of the jacket so the ventilation cools the core. An overall great jacket.

Had another Spyder jacket for about 10 years but finally worn out. Decided to order this one in a size L and I am personally not disappointed: Yes the Spyder logo is glued and not embroidered but I can live with that.. otherwise the zippers work fine and no complaints quality finish wise. It's currently around freezing here in Indiana and it works just like the old one outdoors; as we now quality has a price but this delivers and I consider it amongst the best there is.

I love the color and all the details are excellent. The outer fabric is soft to the touch and made of Gore-Tex. The fabric has a 2-way stretch, which is quite good, though the latest models feature a 4-way stretch. The colorway is stylish and suitable for streetwear, not just for skiing.
