Excellent food waste bin
I purchased the stone color countertop model a couple of months ago, once I decided it was finally time to start separating and recycling my food waste (we have a municipal collection program). This model was more expensive than some others I considered, but it looked sturdier and more attractive. I'm extremely pleased with it. I keep the bin on my countertop next to my cutting board and I don't mind the look of it at all. It is easy to use (lid has a convenient tab for opening and it stays propped open well when you're chopping etc., and the size of the bin is perfect for my family (which ranges from 2-5 people depending on who is around). When the lid is closed, the bin is odor-proof. I ended up buying the FORID 1.2 gallon small compostible bags as liners and they work well. You can twist the excess bag length and catch it in the designated hole in the base of the bin to keep the bag tight. All in all, a great product.

Good size, contains odors
This is a great size and not too unsightly for keeping on the kitchen countertop. Keeps smells in pretty well! Works with or without liner bags. Easy to clean. The carbon filter square gets gross pretty easily, and when it's removed from the lid for cleaning, fruit flies start accumulating. So I'd recommend having replacement squares on hand.

Cool Looks
It is pretty and cool looking. I, however, wish it is a bit bigger.

Just what was needed
Looks much better than the bowl I was using for vegetable /fruit scraps! I have a sleek contemporary kitchen and this is not an eye-sore. Holds a lot , no odour. Just great. Worth the expense.

Breeds flies
Good bags, no leakage. But I kept getting fruit flies laying eggs all over the inside, including the filter. Which turned into maggots in just a couple of days. I don't have a need to change the bag every day, but this is gross.

STINK control for 1 WEEK with Carbon Filter! Trash Can Alternative
My problems:- Cooking and table scraps stink up my regular trash can.- Emptying my trash can every day is a hassle/wasteful if not full.- My apt garbage disposal isn't strong enough to process my food scraps. How this solves it:- Keeps smells completely out due to the CARBON filter (<--*so* key)! Yes, even if the flies are growing inside. I've pushed it that far. TMI, sorry.- Countertop access convenient when cooking- Corrals all the food scraps in one placeSome pearls:- Bag size doesnt have to be perfect. It's designed so that you can put excess bag material in the hole along the lip (see picture).- For non-composters (bc your city doesnt support it :\ ) the Whole Food produce bags fit perfectly!- Get the *countertop* version with the carbon filter, not the door mounted caddy which does not have the filter.

It’s perfect!
Perfect size and beautiful color. The filter works, so the kitchen doesn’t smell like compost at all. It’s very easy to replace the compostable bags.
