Caldwell Tack Driver Shooting Bags Filled and Unfilled, Non-Marring, for Range, Shooting, and Hunting

Purchased this because I heard it really does a good job of helping you zero your rifle. Well, it does. I went to the range today and I am really impressed. Sighted in four hunting rifles, two in heavey caliber. with the rifle placed right in the bag, it holds steady. It even seems to take some of the recoil off, because of the weight of it. I definitely recommend this.

Excellent bag rest. Lighter than my large Browning bag and a bit shorter but actually a better shape to hold a slim hunting rifle. Point is, it works well. Especially if you already have enough stuff to haul to the range, lighter is nice. You might want to add a small bag under the butt stock for max stability if you are trying to squeeze that group size down some more. Another review mentioned sand leaking. I haven't had that problem so far, but changing the filler to polyester beads would cure this and cut the weight down as well. One review said a seam burst when dropped and I would not be too surprised. The material and stitching, while serviceable, seem lighter than some of the more expensive bags. I haven't dropped it yet, but I've plunked it down pretty firmly, while having my hands full with the portable bench, shooter's bag and so forth with no problem. Your mileage may vary as the saying goes. If it could be rated at 4 1/2 stars I might do so, but for the cost it is a very good purchase. I have a lead sled rest and others but this one is just a handy size and works well.

This impressed me of uses ! Can use in stand , quick alignment if you bump your gun hunting . Rifles , pistol and shotguns no matter you can use this ! Heavy made holds gun great ! Caldwell out done there self here !

This is a great value on a great product. I needed something for a house window sill so I could target shoot while working out of the home office. This is long enough to span the ledges and heights of a window and casement and trim. I also just recently used it to set up a scope on a rifle - leveling in particular. It was long enough and by flaring the bottom wings out it wedged the rifle along enough length to set up the scope without touching or tweaking much. This will likely end up the primary bag that goes places with my others for friends and special purposes. I filled mine with crushed walnut hulls from HF (sold as blasting media in large bags cheap). It's really not that difficult. I used a large screw driver handle, twisting, to "open up" the fill holes. And then I used a long tapered oil/transmission fluid funnel. You could make a long one (12-18" the taper helps) from heavy paper or cardboard. Pour half a cup or two in at a time and jiggle. Do that for both sides, shake to settle and check fill; touch up whichever side. To keep it from leaking, take the fill nipple, and fold it under and in, so the velcro strap holds the bent fill nipple in place. Good enough (though if you were playing catch it might leak some). Do watch moisture with walnut husks. Not as bad as seeds. Ddon't use seeds or beans - you'll have an unrecoverable mess if they start sprouting and/or rotting. Poly beads are waterproof - but will end up with a lighter bag. Your call. I had the ground husks and they work well.

This bag is filled with little plastic pellets. When it arrived, the velcro closure wasn't secured completely and a few pellets had leaked out. It took quite a bit of wrestling with it to get it to close completely, but after messing with it for a few minutes, I got it together and wrapped back up. I like the size, and the shape is great for bracing on irregular shaped objects. I think this is going to be good for NRL22 since it's just a bit smaller than the soccer ball bag size limit in the rules. It's a versatile shape that can straddle a variety of objects well to help steady your sight picture. It also worked as a rear bag when set up on the bottom rung of a ladder. Would have given 5 stars if it didn't have plastic pellets leaking out at first.

I got two of these to shoot 400 yard targets. I filled them with cat litter, and these are a big step up from blue jean legs filled with sand. I am not sure about them reducing recoil. The rifle is nice and snug when it rests in one of these bags. I send one with guest to shooting houses, and no one has complained about carrying the extra weight.

After read about what to fill the tack driver with I bought a 10L, 6Kg bag of Amazon's corn cat litter it filled the tack driver with a little squiggy room, using the whole bag of cat litter. Bargain compared with buying the filled tach driver. Don't get it wet!

Love it. Bit too heavy with filling so I changed the cat gravel to plastic beads.

Heavy duty, fully filled, you can turn and rotate it for multiple height levels of your liking which is convenient for certain Semi-Autos with longer mags that tend to get in the way on the benches. Highly recommend it after 2 years of heavy gun range use and still going strong.
