This is a hard review to do because the product has some positive qualities. This is heavy-duty material and makes a good pre-filter. Strictly as a pre-filter, this is probably a lot better than the flimsy Honeywell filters. So, no problem on that account. If a pre-filter is all you expect, than this is probably a 4 or 5 star product.But this is also advertised on the box as a "activated carbon" pre-filter (I.e., activated charcoal). So, if you are expecting this product to also freshen the air for a few weeks the way a Honeywell activated charcoal pre-filter does, you will be disappointed. I could detect no air-freshening effect from this product. I think the "carbon" label only refers to the color, not the use of activated charcoal. I have only used half of the box, but I would be surprised is the other half is any different.

I have an Idylis AC-2118 air purifier. Many of the after market carbon filters are of poor quality. As you can see in my photos, generic carbon filters have thin areas throughout where you can see right through to the HEPA filter. It’s like looking though a screen door and also subjects the HEPA filter to a build up of larger particles and debris which will shorten its lifespan. As you can see, these Fette carbon filters are dense and consistentbthroughout, the way a carbon filter should be. They are very effective against larger airborne particles and also efficient in reducing odors. You can expect a longer life from your HEPA filter as a result. My search for a high quality carbon filter is now over. I highly recommend Fette carbon filters.

Have been using these pre-filters for a number of years which require replacing in the air purifiers every 3 or 4 months. The manufacture of the air purifiers state the period replacements on schedule will prevent the need to replace the more expensive main filters, which are far more costly than the pre-filters. The downside of this order is the filter material is supplied in one large roll, which is too long and too wide to fit the model indicated on the box, and has to be cut to fit, which is not all that easy to cut with scissors . to get the cutting right a large flat surface is required,(about 4 ft surface length) a white marking item , (Like white chalk) and a large pair of scissors, like Tailors shears, (regular household scissors will not work, because the material is very thick and impregnated with bits of charcoal ). Honeywell use to sell these carbon filters fit for size for each model, but now they only sell bulk material and leave the sizing and fitting to buyers.The cutting might be accomplished with using a single edge razor blade, but there is a danger of cutting hands or fingers. To say receiving filter material in bulk quantity is disappointing, is a gross understatement

I'm extremely disappointed. The very first thing I noticed was how thick this off-brand pre-filter is. You can see in my photo, the Honeywell pre-filter (on the bottom) is see through. It's just supposed to catch large particles and deodorize. The fette filter feels like extremely thick felt. It's going to significantly reduce airflow through the main filter and cause the motor to work harder to move the same amount of air. It also came with no perforation so cutting it was more difficult than I would have liked.The price and advertising seems like you're getting two for the price of one, but really you're getting garbage for the price of one. If you want a Honeywell quality pre filter DO NOT BUY THIS. If you want some over-priced felt that may or may not have any odor reducing properties, purchase away.
