An ALMOST perfect backpack
This is a great small size tactical backpack! I've actually purchased this twice, because my first one got misplaced when I moved. I use this to carry back and forth from work at the hospital, and mostly just need it to hold my work items plus a jacket, meds, and some snacks. You can see from the photo that it's just a bit smaller than my North Face Recon backpack... I would guess it's maybe around 20-25L. It has the perfect amount of pockets without being too bulky. The only thing this pack is missing is a padded laptop sleeve. I also think it could use either an additional water bottle holder or some sort of zippered pouch on the other side. If they were to add both of those items, this would be the PERFECT bag. Pros: - lots of velcro for my patches - chest strap - plenty of pockets - durable - a THICK, durable grab handle Cons: - No padded laptop compartment - Ony one water bottle holder

Fieldline Alpha OPS Daypack: 4 1/2 years of abuse and now I'll write a review.
March of 2015 I found myself needing a backpack for work; something in a solid, unobtrusive color, and smaller than the various packs I had around in the house at the time. Several evenings spent comparing various packs online narrowed my choice down to this one. Campmor (via Amazon) had it to my door in just a few days and I put it to immediate use. First impressions were mostly positive, the only negative was that one of the corded zipper pulls on the secondary organizer pocket fell off straight out of the bag. Annoying but it wasn't a deal breaker, and it was fixed in under 5 minutes with a piece of paracord looped through the metal zipper pull and braided into place. Due to the compactness of the pack I was skeptical of the storage capacity at first but over time that initial impression was happily proved wrong. Since I was going to be using the pack for work, and work had me constantly travelling between an office environment and isolated, industrial type facilities, I added two MOLLE water bottle holders to the left and right side of the pack so I could maximize the internal real estate for other items. The Good: Backpack is compact and light for it's size. PALS webbing gives you options for adding MOLLE pouches for additional storage space but it's limited (see below). Large capacity relative to the size of the pack; I was able to shoehorn a 17" Dell laptop into the main compartment on several occasions although I DO NOT recommend this as a daily activity because it placed a significant amount of stress on the zipper at the corners of the laptop. A 17" HP laptop would not fit. A large 3 ring binder, a 1 1/2" thick textbook, and several paper pads routinely cohabitated in the main compartment without difficult or stressing the zipper. The maximum amount of weight carried was in the 35-40 lb range, my usual day-to-day at this point in time is in the 15-20 lb range. Durability of the pack has been great. After 4 1/2 years of nearly daily use the water resistant lining is starting to peel away from the nylon shell of the pack and two 1" tears have developed in the bottom of the main compartment. Four days ago (9/5/19) the zipper on the secondary compartment finally gave out and the teeth separated far enough that the zipper pull jumped one side and it can't be repaired without replacing the whole zipper. Aside from that, no other damage to report. All of the seams are intact, straps and buckles are still factory new and functioning flawlessly. Velcro panels have held up great, no problems with unraveling even with repeated patch changes. The pack isn't overly "tacti-cool." It doesn't knock you to the ground and pummel your face into a bloody pulp while screaming "MILITARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY!!!!" It's nicely featured without drawing undue attention. Even with a high and tight haircut you won't look like you just got off base on a 3 day pass with this pack slung over your shoulder. (This is not a Stryker-X assault backpack after all...) The Mediocre: The backpack isn't particularly rigid. If the main compartment is not full and you place any amount of weight in the sunglass pouch or the small storage pouch above the secondary organizer pouch the entire pack will slouch off to one side. Too much weight near the top without some bulk in the main compartment makes the pack just fall over. The Bad: If you are looking for a backpack to use as a carry on for air travel I wouldn't recommend this particular pack unless you have a checked bag or you're just on an overnight trip, in which case this backpack would do nicely. I prefer to only fly with a carry on bag and no checked luggage, and this backpack can hold a maximum of two days worth of clothing without festooning it with additional pouches. Which brings us to... While the pack is equipped with a decent amount of PALS webbing, due to the materials used in the pack the webbing is of limited usefulness. The left and right sides of the pack are the only places you can add pouches that do not limit your ability to access and operate zippers or that do not immediately pull the whole pack wide open as soon as you unzip the main compartment. You can add a small admin type pouch on the front of the secondary compartment if you need to but adding anything larger tends to pull the bottom of the pack downwards and change how the pack rides. Opinion: I think the pack would actually be improved by eliminating the PALS webbing on the face of the pack and just going with a slick face with Velcro panels. Keep the PALS webbing on the sides, and add an additional three rows of webbing on the lower left side by eliminating the drawstring water bottle pouch. Bottom Line: Yes, I would by this again, in fact I'm purchasing a second one to replace my first one now that it has finally worn out. Yes, I would recommend this pack to anyone looking for a small, lightweight, compact backpack. If you need durability without breaking the bank I had great results from mine. I don't mean "Oh sure, it's held up well," great. I mean "Let's go work around half-million volt electrical gear this year and next year we'll spend our days inside old attack submarines!" great. I've hauled this thing through electrical substations, power plants, shipyards, old warships in the process of being scrapped, offices, classrooms, buildings in various stages of demolition and/or refurbishment, industrial workshops, mock up trainers, attics, basements, tunnels, through coastal forests and up a couple of small mountains to reach transmitter sites. It has been bounced around mercilessly in the back of work trucks, the trunk of the car, and stuffed full of parts and slung on a manlift basket. If it can deal with that for 4+ years and come away with a couple of holes in the bottom I'd say it was worth my $30. It may just be worth yours too.

Great Value! Ordered a second one!
Good quality for a low priced bag. Zippers work well, no loose stitching, overall well made. Ordered this for a "get home bag" and liked it so much I ordered another for my daily computer bag. Large pocket fits my laptop, organizer and files easily. My laptop is in a semi-hard case so takes up a fair amount of room and the organizer is a zip up 3 ring binder type so again fairly bulky. The front pockets offer a lot of organization and the little top pocket is "felt" lined and is perfect for my sunglasses. The water bottle pocket is good sized and fits a 32 ounce Nalgene but is elastic and will hold a smaller bottle firmly. As a "get home bag" it works perfectly, same space, organization, etc. Lots of Molle attachment points if you chose to lash items to the outside of the bag as well. It's a smaller manageable bag but holds a lot and organizes well. I find with bigger bags I just carry more stuff and they get very heavy and bulky. This is the perfect size for me. Great bag and highly recommend!

Great overall bag with a couple of minor set backs.
Great bag so far. Couple of reasons for 4 stars. First, is just the quality. For $34.00 I really can't complain and it is a great alternative to the 5.11 pack. However, I do feel like some of the inner linings are pretty thin and I worry about stuffing the pack too full that it will tear some of the inner pockets. Also, when I received my bag one of the strips of molle was not sewn down in the middle leaving an extra large loop. I don't think it was supposed to be this way because there was threading in it, it just wasn't connected anymore. Although, this doesn't really bother me, because the bigger loop might have some uses. I just question the quality of the bag overall, because of this. I know a lot of reviews complain about the bag being too small and at first I was a little surprised it was smaller than my old college backpack, not by much but i was expecting about a standard backpack size and it is just slightly smaller. After using it though, it really holds a lot more than you would think and the smaller size turns out to be better as a go bag and is easy to throw in and out of the car and stow under my desk at work. One more slight gripe I have with the bag is the water bottle pocket on the side. I don't like that it interferes with the zipper and only allows for a 3/4 zip. I knew that this was the case before ordering so I'm not rating it lower because of this, but is more of an annoyance than I thought it would be. I would much rather attach a bottle holder with the molle that was removable. I think the 5.11 bag did this part right compared to this one. Other than that I really love the bag. It looks great and the outer fabric seems to be pretty tough. Although, I went in probably too much detail with my concerns, the benefits of the bag far outweigh my minor concerns with it. If the bag holds out and proves to be tougher than it looks I will probably change my rating to a five star. For the price the bag is well worth it!

Awesome Pack!
I am a bag nut and have tons of backpacks, sling packs, duffle type bags. I bought this bag in coyote tan as an occasional use bag for trips, hikes, or to store specific gear. Fieldline nailed the design of this pack. It has the right amount of everything. Even though I bought it as an occasional use bag, I found myself making up reasons to use it because I just really liked it. Recently, I bought a second one in black and built my wife a range bag out of it an it has performed great, even with 10 extra pounds of ammo in it. Then, I tried seeing if I could fit my 5.11 tactical molle panel in it. It fits perfectly across the pack, and I use the little soft Velcro loop on the inside top of the pack to hang the molle panel in it. This does block off the rear laptop compartment, but I am fine with that as I do not use it as a laptop bag and the molle panel is much more useful inside the bag. With the Molle panel installed, it gets even better as I can now mount pouches, hooks, and other stuff. Great Pack. I give it 5 stars because the price is currently very reasonable for what you get. It could only get better if they offered it in grey or other "non tactical" colors. I love tactical gear, but sometimes its nice to have the features of that type of gear with other color choices. Excellent. Get one.

Basic backpack for tactical considerations
I was pleasantly surprised with this backpack. I needed something to carry my SHTF gear for work and didn't really want to spend a ton of money on a 5.11 or some other type of big brand backpack. I also wanted something that was simple and functional...perhaps something I could use outside of just work if needed. I will say it is very basic looking, but maybe a bit too tactical looking for my own personal preference to use as a regular backpack. The size is good, it reminds me of your average Eastpak/Jansport backpack that could fit your entire day's worth of school books and notebooks. I have room for food/water and a nice large front pocket for medical gear. The front pocket also has several well layed out pockets on the interior. The two velcro placements for patches are nice and pretty standard. Several MOLLE attachments also, which to me makes this compete with bags at a much higher cost. The straps fit me quite well and feel very wide and snug. There really isn't much to talk about this which isn't in the photos. I do feel the quality is there, which is all I cared about. The Coyote tan color is pretty true to the photo.

Good Backpack, bad zippers
Had one of these back in the day and liked it, lasted a good two years or so before it wore out. So when the time came that I needed another backpack, I ordered this one. First thing I noticed was that the zippers felt a lot cheaper and flimsier than I remembered, specifically on the small front compartment, they had a tendency to bind and catch on nothing at all? Fast forward 8 months later, zipper on the small front compartment started ripping free from the backpack. Granted, the backpack is only $25 and I know you get what you pay for, but I didn't take the thing to war or swing it around by the zippers, so I expected it to hold up a bit better. Cheap zippers seem to be the trend with backpacks nowadays, but that's business I guess. They break and you keep buying. Won't be buying this particular one again unfortunately, I ended up ordering a better backpack with better zippers.

Pleasantly surprised!
So I was just looking for a nice work backpack that I could throw my laptop in along with other tech doodads. Maybe even snacks or random everyday stuff. WOW, for the price I don’t think this can be beat. Feels very well made, there is padding on the back area as well as the shoulder straps. It has so many good pockets on and in it. I can fit my 13” laptop, mouse, work phone, everything no problem. Plenty of room to spare. I wasn’t expecting a whole lot on this purchase but it delivers. You cannot go wrong with this bag especially at this price point. There is no padding on the bottom so if you’re looking for that for added laptop protection you might want to look elsewhere. Great daypack
