Free up your oven on the holidays!
Had a smaller version a long time ago. But these roasters are amazing when you're making holiday dinners. Frees up the oven for sides and desserts. Very straightforward operation. It's just a knob and it warms up quickly and is accurate (checked with an IR thermometer). Also great for large amounts of chili or other party foods.Make sure you wash everything with warm soapy water and rinse before first use. Anyone complaining of an odor on first few uses probably didn't wash everything.Cleanup is very easy. It's all metal and durable. The side walls are semi hollow so you don't want to bend them by pushing too hard but they are meant to be for heat distribution.

Accepts a large Turkey
Only dislike is that the wire rack is a bit puny, and it doesn't adjust like the old ones used to.

Lifesaver for thanksgiving turkey
I was able to have full use of my over for baking and warming while I cooked my turkey. Such a gift! A few things I learned: for a 20 pound turkey, I would probably turn it 180 halfway through or center it better. It was more browned on the left side than the right. Not a huge deal, just aesthetics. Also, I will plan for more time. I planned for 3.5 hours at 325 and it took 4.5 hours. Possibly an altitude thing as I am in Colorado. Overall a great product and I already know three people buying this after seeing how well it worked for us. I did see a newer model for less money at my local store so shop around.

Temperature control is off by 100 degrees
Bought this to cook a 5 bone prime rib on Christmas day and still have the oven available for other dishes. Fortunately, I never trust temperature controls for cooking and inserted my Thermoworks probe designed to measure the temperature of the cooking chamber as opposed to being inserted into the meat. I have verified the accuracy of this probe. We wanted to cook the roast at 225, my go to temp. After an hour, it was clear we weren't getting above 125. After another hour of fiddling, we determined you needed to set the dial at 325 to get a 225 temp. I will give it credit that once you get your desired temp, it stays there */- a few degrees. Another grip is the webpage says it is self basting. Nowhere on the box or packaging does it mention 'self basting', although to be honest, I am not sure how a self-basting lid differs from a non-self-basting lid. Bottom line, although we ultimately ended up with a delicious roast, the temperature issue is a deal breaker and we returned it.

Great roaster
Works just as described, I had no issues with delivery and unit was easy to unpack. The only thing I noticed was there’s no light indicating unit is on and heating, making the possibility of the unit being on when not in use if plugged in.

For anyone who needs a large roaster.
I won't lie, I cried when my 30 year old Kenmore roaster died right before Thanksgiving. It was a work-horse that I used all through canning season to cook down sauces. I used it each Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas to give me extra room in my oven for the rest of the holiday dinner. I needed a new one, STAT!After looking at all of the available roasters, I was disappointed because not only were they smaller, but the brand names were nothing that I recognized. Forget the reviews.I saw this one and it was actually 2 fluid quarts larger than my old one. I recognized the company and had other appliances that I had been happy with that were Hamilton Beach. There were some negative reviews, but nothing that I felt were a problem.I used it the first time for the Thanksgiving Turkey. I was VERY happy to see that I was able to turn the heat down to "warm," and the temperature was lower than the newer Instapots. That will be a game changer this next canning season.I did notice that the shiny finish on the inside of the pan seemed to dull after washing it around 4 times, but that's not a problem. If you need a large roaster and you do any sort of canning, this roaster is for you!
