The shine doesn't last long--whether or not you eat or drink. Don't blot--the shine is gone.

is darker than the photo shows?

In my opinion, it’s pretty close to the color shown. Sometimes lipstick shades appear different on different people because of natural lip color.

How does it open? Protective wrapping I can’t get into? Please help!

Lift/pull up the plastic wrap, just a bit to slip small scissors or even a fingernail clipper, to cut a slit in the plastic; that will get you started and you can pull the plastic down.
