An important read to understand where we are headed as a country
Modi’s India is a must read for everyone who want to understand where we are as a country right now and how it has changed over a period of last 7-8 years. How we turned into an ethnic democracy and what will be the impact if it continues to be like it. Very well written and structured book to give the readers of complete sense of how we have become of what we have become as a country. The book let the readers know that from a democracy the state has become a vigilante state, where it runs on the whims and fancies of one leader and where there is no regard for any democratic process. Where the public space is Hinduized, and minorities are told that they are second class citizens. A state where no dissent is allowed and if you raise a voice, you are put behind bars under the draconian and regressive law UAPA. India as a country has become a ethnic democracy where majoritarianism is the rule now and secularism and religious liberalism is not only frowned upon but punished

Good book, but too repetitive
The same content could have been conveyed in half the number of pages, or less, which would have made the book more readable, and made its message have a greater impact. Yet, it is worth reading.

Larry Collins and Dominic Lapierre's research
Mr.Christophe Jaffrelot , with a deep research with materials available from every source has brought out the minute details of the Modi's conniving governance. And indeed the nefarious facts and the intention of the government since 2014 should let be known to the Indian public to the East to the West and North to the South. Even Hitler in the Nazi Germany has such devious malevolent stratagem. And the Universe across knows pretty well, after Jaffrelot's kosher regurgitated all through the book would understand that India is dusted off exonym of Democracy.

Assessment of Modi
Brilliant and scholarly look at Modi's India. The book looks at all the damages done by Modi to his country's democracy, integrity, economy, progressive outlooks, Constitution, secularism, relationships... An utter disaster is what Modi turns out to be in this assessment. India won't ever be the old nation anymore.

Hard-hitting !!
One of the most comprehensive analysis of a populist leader who got elected in arguably the world's biggest democracy but steered it towards Majoritarianism with gradual control over institutions. Must read for every Indian.

An anthology of anti-Modi rant
Clearly the author is a Nehru-Gandhi camp apologist. As a book reader, every work of critique is welcome. The intellectual honesty sought by any reader is, criticise but treat and quote all facts equally.. but the author has just pedalled the ideology dear to him and has frequently resorted to discrediting every inconvenient narrative by selective quotes and highlights.. The most shocking fact is, the whole slapdash job is touted to be some form of an intellectual tour de force, going by the eulogies sung by the likes of Sunil khilnani and Partha Chatterjee. That makes me wonder - why the supposed indian intelligentsia is forever enamoured and in awe of the white skin even in the 75th year of azadi? It will behoove the author to stick to pontificating about the failures, the ineptitude and the precipitous decline of the French and the English, instead of offering this royal rubbish on how Indian democracy is evolving. I am returning this apology of a book forthwith - refund or no refund.

LOTS OF INFO AND OTHER FACTS
Read part of the book as of now. Initial impression is - either the publisher fooled the author or the author insisted on the publisher to use such a small print that the reader will put down the book just after a few pages. The strain on the eye is too much with the small print. Wonder who came up with this idea of such a small print.Otherwise, the book has lots of info and facts and i will be writing another review once I am done reading.
