I try everything but keep coming back to Tecnu Original
IMPORTANT: For those with severe poison ivy sensitivity (like me), prompt treatment is crucial. Urushiol oil can remain potent on surfaces for up to 5 years and won't be adequately removed by regular soap and water - not even from objects. Specialized products with solvents like mineral spirits or methyl soyate are necessary to properly break down and remove the oil from both skin and contaminated items. I have tried everything on the market. Here are my current Poison Ivy Treatment Rankings (Most to Least Effective): 1. Tecnu Original Poison Ivy Wash ($14.39/12oz): MOST EFFECTIVE and BEST VALUE: Contains mineral spirits (the strongest urushiol solvent, but may feel drying to sensitive skin) to dissolve the urushiol, surfactants to remove oily substances, and mixed fatty acid soaps to surround and lift it from the skin so it can be rinsed away. Most cost-effective option - wash yourself, wash your dog, wash your clothes with it. 2. IvyX Wipes ($40/50 wipes): Contains mineral spirits and soothing ingredients. Convenient but expensive. Wipe yourself, wipe your dog, wipe your garden tools. I use these and then go home and wash with Tecnu. 3. Coleman's Scrub ($9/4oz): Plant-based solvents (methyl soyate, an alternative to mineral spirits - not as effective as mineral spirits but not as drying) and effective surfactants. I have this, too. 4. Zanfel ($30/1oz): Multiple surfactants but no specialized solvents for urushiol removal. Extremely overpriced for ingredients. Did not repurchase after the first tube. Coleman's formulation is better and 1/3 of the price for 4x as much. The directions on Zanfel are helpful and can be applied when using any of the washes or scrubs: "3. Wet and rub both hands together for 10 seconds, working the product into a paste. (This will activate the ingredients. Do not bypass or modify this step). 4. Rub both hands (up to 3 minutes, if needed) on the affected area, working Zanfel into the skin until there is no sign of itching (15 seconds is typical for mild to moderate reactions)." In summary: Hands are a likely source of contamination, so spend 3 minutes scrubbing the oil off your hands with whatever cleanser or scrub you have. Don't skip this step. 5. Tecnu Extreme ($12/4oz): Contains soothing Grindelia extract (traditional remedy for poison ivy, might soothe skin). Better for relief than oil removal, better price than Zanfel. Antimicrobial and soothing properties. No complaints. 6. Cutter Scrub ($8.45/4oz): Mild surfactants, no strong solvents. Essentially a generic cleanser, not specialized for urushiol. 7. Cutter Wipes ($10/12): Simple alcohol-based cleaning. Minimal effectiveness for urushiol. Essentially a generic cleansing wipe for sensitive skin or general hygiene. For poison ivy exposure, you really want products specifically formulated with strong oil-dissolving solvents rather than general cleaning products.

Great in poison ivy
We had a lot of poison ivy this year and this stuff works great. A couple times washing with it, dries the itch right up and clears the skin. Smell is not offensive. The size is good value for the money with effectiveness.

Great stuff that works fast, you need to keep this on hand from now on.
This Tecnu has been a life saver for my granddaughter. All you do when the kids come back from running around in the woods covered with poison ivy is throw them in the shower, rub Tecnu on them wait a few minutes then rinse it off. Even if you’ve had it for a couple of days, do this. Within 24 hours the rash will stop itching and will dry up and go away. Just a tip also, if you come in contact with poison ivy and don’t have any Tecnu on hand, use some hand sanitizer, better to do this within the first hour of contact.

Helps kill the spread of poison ivy really works
If your poison ivy prawn, this is a necessity for you a little expensive, but it works great helps to reduce the spread of the oils for poison ivy for some reason I get poison ivy every year. I used a bottle last year. I only had a little left so I re-ordered. It’s a great product.
