Blackmagic Design Mini Converter SDI to HDMI with Embedded Audio

This item in an SDI equipped facility is an absolute staple item. I probably have 10 in use right now. Easy. Simple. Converts pretty much any flavor of SDI, HD-SDI to HDMI for display on any monitor equipped with an HDMI jack. This simple brick can be mounted to the back of most equipment with some industrial-strength 2" velcro, some zip ties, etc. This adapter allows consumer-grade plasmas or LCD screens to become studio monitors. It will save you a ton of money compared to buying special monitors with the capability to purchase an even more specialized, proprietary SDI card (I'm looking at you, Panasonic). The 1/4" audio jacks provide line level audio of any pair of the embedded 8 channels of audio in the SDI signal. I use this to drive some powered monitors locally in a green room (the HDMI signal also carries the audio signal along to the attached monitor & internal speakers). This only converts from SDI to HDMI. If you need to go the other way, Blackmagic Design sells another item for that purpose (Blackmagic Design HDMI to SDI Converter). Double check before purchasing.I will continue to purchase these for quite some time.

Great value for money. Use these to send signal to PC monitors at the corporate shows/conventions where I get the SDI signal from the cameras recording the event. Used them separately, and daisy-chained - no issues for the most part. They handled the job very well except for one time where house requirement was an odd format (they were streaming direct to web), and this particular box could not handle the conversion. It is not of a hi-end grade where you can switch the jumpers and adjust the video decoding. This box only allows HDMI audio decoding customization with jumpers.In the end the decoding box that did the job was twice as expensive as this one - so you get what you pay for. But for 99% of the time, this does the job, and does it very well.

This unit performs perfectly and carries sound, just as promised. A bit spendy to get 5 stars, but totally solved my conversion issues.

Was a little skeptical in spending so much for this, but with Amazon's great return policy, thought we would give it a try. We are sending 1080i signal over SDI cable (150+ feet) and using this box to convert to HDMI (into a projector). Works and looks great!

Bad customer support, I never got it to work with my monitor.

Works without setting up anything. We use these to send sdi program out feeds from a tricaster to flat screen TV's .We Velcro the unit to the tv, connect the cables, power it up , and watch the show.

Bought 2 of these to connect to our projectors (HDMI) from out Atem Production Studio 4k and worked without a hitch! They do get a bit warm but I'm sure that's well within their ability to perform.

I originally went with another brand and it didn't work at all. Calls to their tech support were useless. So I got the Blackmagic Design SDI to HDMI converter and it has worked flawlessly.
