You're Going To Be A Dad!: The New Dad's Guide To Pregnancy and The First Year of Fatherhood

Fantastic guide, recommended for all new Dad's!
You’re Going To Be a Dad does however go into a more scientific – but readable – approach to things like pregnancy and the trimesters. It gives Dad’s the complete run-down on what’s going on with Mum and baby during the *roughly* 40 weeks of pregnancy, in a handy month by month breakdown. This isn’t a tough-love kinda guide; it’s gentle and warm and made me chuckle in parts. I love the regular “Reflections From Our Dad’s” quotes that are scattered throughout of men all around the UK sharing quotes, advice and their struggles on different stages of pregnancy. Highly recommended for all new Dad's!

Absolutely Essential
This book is an absolutely brilliant (and an essential) gift idea for a prospective father. Full of anecdotes which totally prove you are not alone in your experiences and feelings, 'You're going to be a dad' is both comprehensive and educational, and yet friendly and relatable in its tone. The use of checklists throughout the book are brilliant, and would be useful to a prospective mum as well as dad as it really does think of anything. If you are a dad to be, this is the book that can answer all those questions you may have, and hopefully address all your worries you may be thinking of.Would highly recommend.

So much better than similar books available
I bought this book recently for my husband to prepare him for the birth of our nee baby. I’m actually so impressed with it! It has the opinions and experiences of real dads from around the world which makes it so much more relatable. It breaks down the pregnancy journey so well, with weekly updates and tips. It goes deeper than other books I’ve seen and has some really interesting scientific information that is written in an understandable way. I love that it touches on difficult subjects such as miscarriage and even Covid! Not only that, it goes beyond birth too- helping new parents navigate their way through the first year of parenthood! This really is a fab book and I’d recommend it any new dad.

So full of detail and practical advice!
I’m so impressed with this book so far. There’s much more information than in my pregnancy books for mums. I’ve bought this for my husband but will definitely be using it myself.Great to see that it covers topics like miscarriages, premature babies and other issues you might come across. These are just not talked about in classes.I think my husband will find the week by week information in each trimester really useful. It also has a lot of quotes and insights from other dads which are fascinating. They bring up things I just never thought to ask. It’s quite a meaty book as well and packed with info. Looking forward to coming back to it again each time I want to check something.

Written for a dad's perspective a step-by-step conception, pregnancy, birth and beyond manual.
Week-by-week, month-by-month, step-by-step of the way for a pregnancy from a man's perspective is a new way of reading pregnancy manuals which have, in the past, though informative and helpful, have been primarily for Mothers. In an age of equality we need the equal rights to be working in both directions and understanding the details of a first baby (and beyond) being born is just as important to fathers. This book takes real dad's life experiences and mixes with science, fact and emotion in a way that I found really helpful, and would have found especially helpful as a first time dad. I read all the books with each of my 4 children being born but I didn't find information delivered in a way that was bespoke to me. This book does it in a comprehensive way with information I'd still not considered even now, as a new 4th time dad and it's richer for it, as am I. I think dealing with male emotion and feeling can be overlooked when it comes to family planning and preparation, something I think I had dismissed as "the way it is" until I read this book. Up to date and incredibly succinct this is the book I'll be buying for friends when they're going to be new dads.

Dad Bible!
I bought this book for my partner soon after we found out I was pregnant. This is my second but his first child (although I’ve had a big gap!)My partner was super excited but feeling a bit useless and left out of the whole pregnancy experience (apart from driving to shops in the middle of the night the satisfy my food cravings!)He cried when I gave him this book (he is not a crier!) and he’s loving it! I also quickly devoured the section on the first trimester in case there was anything I missed! I love how accessible the book is (he’s not a big reader) - it’s straight away become his bible and he keeps trying to put me on my left side at night because he’d been reading it before bed! It’s also a great read for me because so much has chanced since I was last pregnant and there’s so much I’ve forgotten! I love the style of it and the way it encourages dads to be supportive, but also understand their own feelings.Would highly recommend!!

Refreshingly in-depth and REAL
This book was so much more in depth than I expected; covering things such as finances during pregnancy, birth plans and what to expect during labour. Then it talks about the first few months of being a parent and prepares you for some of the incredibly un-talked-about moments. It’s the most in-depth book I have read on conceiving, pregnancy, birth and parenting and I really enjoyed the tone. Real, honest insights from the author but also from other dads who have been there, done that. The book packs in so much info over its 400+ pages and it’s a must-have for everyone, not just dads/dads to be. It’s important to understand it from a different point of view, and that’s another thing I enjoyed about this book.
