Same bean as Greek Gigandes. Grown in Poland, sold by Italy imported to US
Repeat orderer (also gifted to others) Big Beautiful Delicious Beans. One will fill a spoon-no joke.Buy 4-pack and share. Recipes online for Gk Gigante beans or improvise; they're beans-they can handle whatever you throw at them.. These beans will not let you down. My process: soak overnight -12 hours-rinse- and start w/ cold water-bring to low boil for 10-15 minutes before turning down to simmer approx 2 hours. They may be tender-done at 90-100 minutes- but with the extra time (30 more) they develop a creamy interior while still holding their shape. Your time may differ due to altitude, water hardness, stove temp. age of beans, etc.,. They Are Worth The Time!

Hype not exaggerated...
These Corona beans are not only appealing to the eye because of their size, but they are delicious. I don't know how they compare with gigantes beans, but the gigantes would be hard pressed to be better. Chefs brag about them, and now I know it's for good reason. I purchased this half kilo to sample them to see if the price was justified. It's not except when you consider the food value you get from beans, and that these are delicious... at least in the dish we initially made with half of this package. They go a long way. We've had two meals from them so far and probably will get at least two full servings from them yet. So, they are priced well when you compare them with beef. But I will be looking for better prices at bulk and specialty stores. I recommend you presoak them for at least 12 hours and cook at low simmer for 1 1/2-2 hours before you use them in a recipe. I simmered them with celery, carrot, and parsley. Salt them only for the last 1/2 hour of simmer.

VERY OLD & Broken, Stale, Dirty Beans…
First time trying this brand of beans. Got up at 4am to start the bean soaking process, and was incredibly disappointed to find that 90% of the beans were unusable. Terrible quality control. Horrible to realize that I splurged on what I thought were a nice product, and like the beans, my money just went into the trash as food items do not get refunded. Do not recommend.

Wonderful beans, good seller and price.
I just cooked up my first bag of these right now. They are tender, meaty - everything I hoped, for. I’ve used corona beans many times over decades, I think this is a fair price and great quality. (To those that think that this price is too high, are you now paying $15 a pound for scallops or salmon or beef, this is eight dollars or less a pound for these huge heaven-sent beans.)I’m in love with Alma, I think you can use them with confidence.

Best bean ever!
These are so yummy and buttery (coming from me, that means a lot because I don’t typically like beans).I’m saving a few beans to see if they will grow!

Large Meaty Corona Beans
These large meaty corona beans are tasty. Following a method of soaking in a sprout jar for 1 to 1 1/2 days rinse 3 to 4 times day. The beans plump up, cook easily and the extra long soak easier to digest. Gas or electric stove and temperature will determine cooking time. Cooking at lower heat a bit longer produces plump whole beans. I use these beans to add to other foods, breakfast, lunch or dinner. A few beans with oil and herbs are delicious on salads. Great as appetizer, a few in pasta with red sauce, and of course in the traditional Italian and Greek dishes. Buying in this quantity makes them more reasonable in price. Good to think of Corona Beans as 6 or 7 in another dish, versus a bowl full, like smaller beans.

Old, Wrinkled Beans
After a few hours soaking, at least two thirds of the Corona Beans were very badly wrinkled, with interiors separating from the skins (see photo). Many floating to top. Very few decent beans out of the whole bag. I bought the Del Colle Corona, Haricot and Cannellini beans from this seller and all have been in this condition, with the Haricot and Corona being the worst (I suspect they sell less frequently and the inventory is even older). I made a Garbure soup for Christmas and had to remove the beans from the soup before serving to salvage it. I don’t know if the beans they’re selling are really old or it’s some other issue, but I won’t order their beans again. Ruined many hours of hard work.
