Dark, Twisted, Sexy and I Loved This Book
Avril teased fans with the Daniel and Stavros story in the Loose Ends series and her group FB posting. And it was well worth it because she over delivers. Fans know the type of unrepentant hot alpha appalling bad boys that she brings to the table with MM “erotic mafia/cop genre.” While your conscience tells you to condemn them for what they have done, doing and will do, your heart says screw that.I thought I had my all time favorite series couple with Pablo and Dev in Sinner, Savior, but they have moved solidly to second place once I met D and S.Cartel boss Daniel Nieto prepares to torture, break and end the life of Stavros Konstantinou, the hired killer and member of a Greek mafia empire who took his wife, world and left him with painful internal and external wounds. When Stavros finds himself paying penance, chained, beaten, caged and enduring colorful showers, at Daniel’s command, he promises not only would he get out alive, but would make his captor pay in death, but not before getting on his knees and in his bed. With a twist of fate, Stavros is in a position to follow through on his vows and strong-arms Daniel to come to heel. The forced capitulation leaves Daniel conflicted, angry, guilt-ridden and confused about the powerful attraction that the handsome Greek has over him that was superseding the need to kill him. Neither does Stavros grasp the powerful pull beside the revenge that drew him to Daniel.Avril is classic Avril her in her ability to deliver some creative mob violence that will have you going “Damn Avril, you really wrote that”? Two scenes made me just shake my head and give a freaking thumbs up on how her mind even put that together. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how she genius-like invites us to share their pain and true motivations about the trials in life that have men them the men they are. And why they get each other. And the sex? There is a reason why D and S are now my series faves. She had me really digging on the sex warped stuff that had me questioning my sanity about loving it. But oh well.I also from the bottom of my heart appreciate the older characters in a romance/erotica book world that are difficult to find.Do I suggest reading the prior series if you are new to Avril’s work, starting with Brooklyn Sinners and then Run This Town? Hell yes! Necessity? No, but she suggests on her FB page starting with the Loose Ends Book and you will be good, but she does a good job “filling” you in in CTC.Call the Coroner was a Mother’s Day weekend treat for me. Five enthusiastic stars.

full of grit and passion
4⭐️ 3.5🌶️An MM mafia romance full of so much grit and passion. Kudos to Avril cause this is how you write enemies to lovers. So much grit and passion. The story feels likes it’s almost poetic.Daniel and Stavros are scorching and I definitely want more. I’m completely in love with them and will be reading book 2. Plus I want to know more about all the other side characters. Syren is so intriguing and hope Levi has his own book too. Also a huge plus for a diverse list of characters and lots of queer rep 👏🏽👏🏽. Love to see that.I was so town between a 4 or 5 ⭐️ rating but I ended up giving it 4⭐️. The pacing in the middle slowed down some and lost my attention. That truly is my only complaint! And that’s a small one.

Oh Diablo! What a ride........
I have been an Avril Ashton fan for quite some time and I have the pleasure of owning all of her books because I find myself re-reading them often. I didn't think I would love two characters more than Xavier and Dima (From Watch Me Break You) but boy was I wrong. Stavros and Daniel were bloodthirsty, brutal, conniving, brilliant and sexy as sin - but once you saw their soft sides it just all fit. They have moved to the top of my list! This book is very dark and in the beginning sometimes made you uncomfortable. Mrs. Ashton did a beautiful job showing how two men can slowly burn for each other in the darkest of circumstances. I think the biggest surprise for me was Daniel, whom we've met before and have been lead to believe he is a total monster. As you read, you slowly get through the tough layers to find a beautiful man who has done the best that he could to survive and continue moving on day after day. Throw Stavros into the mix, who is just as depraved and broken, and you can totally see these two becoming so important to each other. This book is hardcore and not for the faint of heart, but it is an incredible read. I'm anxious to see if we get to learn more about Toro, that would be an interesting story. Of course, the teaser for the next book wasn't bad either. Anything with Syren is a joy to read - that man is "the" architect (yes, I made a Matrix reference). Syren is almost frightening but oh so likeable. Thank you for the wonderful addition to this interesting series. I highly recommend reading this book. You will get more enjoyment if you read the "Loose Ends" series first but it is not needed to enjoy this book. Another fantastic book Mrs. Ashton - I can't wait to see what you come up with next.

Torture to passion
This book was one of those where you have to put the book down and take a breath in between. The torture scenes are painful and you cannot see how they woud change to anything other than enemies. Avril Ashton does a wonderful job in pacing and writing so you see it coming. It is not an insta love and I came to respect both these men for their bottom line character. Daniel continues to grieve for his wife and Stavros continues to prefer to do things secretly and alone. So issues continue as they are drawn to each other. This was for me a very sexy book because it was so dark and passionate. I could not wait to read the next one.

Leave out the gender ideology please
I was REALLY enjoying this book. ALOT. I have a kink for seeing men together and strongly believe people should be able to love whoever they want, it’s their life. Then the author starts injecting all this gender ideology BS that wasn’t even necessary to the story line, it was just oddly thrown in halfway through the book when it’s already been made EXTREMELY obvious the main male character is into men and women and readers clearly understood and accepted that. The gender ideology BS was unnecessary and just killed the entire book for me.

Great dark romance
This book hit the sweet spot of being really dark but still a believable and fully fledged romance. If you look for a dark MM romance where both main characters are equally strong and brutal, this is for you!
