Great for cooking
These have exploded in terms of usage in the restaurant business for plating as well as a cooking utensil. These are a solid pair of tongs that are a nice size for turning things on a hot grill or pan. The price is also much better than the ones that are "designed for culinary usage", which are the exact same products; most restaurants use these and ignore the overpriced ones.

Better than expected
Constructed well. Very sturdy and great for cooking and plating. I made the mistake of buying medical tweezers that cost a lot more than these tongs. It was a pleasant surprise to find this product for a much more reasonable price than expected. I recommend these for all kitchens (except those that only have non-stick pans - these are metal and will scratch them).

Very handy, well made
No, these are not tweezers for pulling huge splinters or plucking elephant eyebrows :)I use these for picking food bits out of the kitchen sink drain, pulling hair out of bathroom tub and sink drains, handling small bits and pieces of crafts, hardware, jewelry. These tongs are easier to use that fine-tip long-nose needle nose pliers in many applications. As for these specific tongs, they are mechanically sturdy without being excessively stiff, their plating is smooth and free of defects, and after several weeks of use there are no signs of rusting or corrosion.

Good for price point but will not last. Cheaply made.
Better quality than others at this price point, though not quite as polished around the edges as JB Prince and other top-names. Very impressed, especially for 4.20 shipped free. Tines hold open at 1" and are easily opened to 2" with your index finger.Edit: update less than one year later: I pinched these together to grab something from the fryer at work, as usual, and they fell apart in my hand and into the fryer during service causing a huge disruption. The terrible spot-welding job holding them together had become rusted (assumedly from simply putting them through the dishwasher) and couldn't hold up.Do not buy, terribly cheap and will fail on you. Spend the extra 10 bucks and get a pair from a reputable brand that will last a lifetime.

Handy tool
Although this is dubbed a surgical instrument, I believe it is often used by chefs for specific cooking projects. In my house however, it has other uses--cleaning out the vent in my dryer and retrieving objects from hard to get places. The quality is adequate--the grasping ends are well matched and easy to use. A worthwhile purchase.

Exactly what I wanted
We have over 40 cymbidium orchids in our back yard. Unfortunately we also have huge oak trees too which drop all kinds of stuff into the orchids. Once every few months my wife and I clean them out and it's very difficult getting our hands into the plant where all the leaves and acorns are so I thought of maybe using tongs. These 10 inch tongs work just great. It's time consuming but sure does help and are a heck of a lot better than without them.

Great tongs, like the Italian chef says.
Went to a cooking school class in Italy where the chef used long tongs like these. So we ordered these to see if it improved our cooking. Well, the food tastes the same, but nonetheless these are fun and easy to use in handling various foods. However, they are not super strong, so if you try to use them as tools to pry stuff or otherwise abuse them, they will bend. As long as you use them as intended, you'll like them.

Fantastic kitchen tool
Larger than I thought they would be, and they're perfect for grabbing anything small that needs precision work. I couldn't believe the price, either. Ever need to grab a single errant pea? A caper that strayed too far from the dish? Good luck with the wide "salad" style tongs. Just keep these in the kitchen and you'll find some pretty stellar uses for them.
