Good sound and heat protection for motorcycle exhaust or other insulation projects.
I bought these to pack a baffle inside my Harley exhaust. Be careful and wear gloves for working with this. It worked well and is still doing the job a year later. Very cheap to get so you can buy more than you need in case you have to make a correction in your application. I wrapped the material around the baffle and used a thin light tape to hold it in place when re-inserting the baffle. The tape will melt away with no issues. Pack as much as you need.

works well for re-packing a motorcycle muffler
The package I received matches the description. The packing is maybe medium dense; its denser than your standard home insulation pink fibreglass. It was easy to cut the fibreglass mat with a pair of a large scissors. I used masking tape instead of the zip-ties based on some howto articles I read online. I used this to repack an old kerker slip-on.

Good for the money
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Thicker and better quality than I was expecting. Worked great for my purpose

Works So Far!
Okay, grown adult here. If you've been searching for muffler packing with any actual claims to reduce decibels, you know that key bit of information is virtually non existent. I recently replaced a bike with a new(er) MX bike, which came with a really nice, new pipe. I was so excited until i started it. For a bike guy to say "wow, that's really loud" should speak volumes. LOL The pipe is a Big Gun and it should have been called a Howitzer! So, I set out to find a good packing with a good rating. If you've gone through this process, you already realize how much bad press we get. How many leople there are like us, that would like something a little louder and little less restricting than the EPA allows the masses but not something that actually makes it audible from a mile away or causes reproductive issues in small animals. I have ridden MX bikes my entire life. I have also preferred them over any other type of bike because I ride a little harder and faster and for me, they don't break as often, if they're properly cared for. I also realize that other people use trails for mountain biking, hiking, hunting or camping and I'm not trying to make enemies than I already have in the neighborhood! This is significantly more quiet than the FMF packing and much cheaper. There was a *huge difference* in sound and price. If you know these pipes, you know they're obnoxious to almost anyone off of the track and I have the 5" Vortex Quiet Insert. Ugh Realize that any "straight-through" exhaust chamber carries a certain degree of amplification that can not be resolved by its own design but could easily be remedied by the manufacturer with a couple small deflection plates inside. That's another topic. Happy to 'report', there was a significant difference in sound with this packing. Roll it tightly, wear gloves and keep it away from your skin. I went out 2 weeks ago and after 3 solid hours of giving it hell with my family, there was no packing harmed in any part of those 3 hours. Usually within your first hour, you'll know if its got any longevity at all. I'll pop back and quickly complain if it turns out to be garbage and if I'm not back for a while, you know its still good stuff. If and when I do, I'll add the 5th star and add more information to the review. I'm confident, short of some Europe-only, $100 packing, I'll be back when I'm over 20 hours of flame throwing for another bag of this packing. I would be curious to see how it stands up to steady, constant heat. That's where a dual sport person could shed extra light. I'm also still looking for other options to quit the bike which will ultimately lead to a different exhaust. For now, this sounds pretty good for where we ride.

Thicker makes more sense
Excelent product, beats wrapping thinner sheets in layers. More than enough for repacking Vance Hines pro pipe 10 times.

Worked perfectly
Used this to wrap the baffles in the Rinehart mufflers on my 2009 Electra Glide. Took the volume down a bit and made a deeper tone. Much nicer on the highway.

Awesome baffle insulation
Used this product to insulate the baffles on my Rinehart exhaust for my Harley-Davidson Road Glide. It worked great and fit the pipe well. I would strongly suggest to pack this tightly around the baffle the first time, after inserting and removing the packing multiple times it begins to plume out and makes it difficult to repack inside of the exhaust. Overall, I would use this product again.
