Q: Can I cut these in half w/a wire cutter?

I doubt wire cutters will work you need a small pair of bolt cutters or a hacksaw.

Q: Want to insert into polymer clay herb garden labels (1x4x1/4"), so pretty light weight. What size would be strong enough to support if cut to 6" long?

I think the 1mm would be strong enough. I cut the tubes in half and make appetizer picks with them and they hold up well with beads on one end and appetizers on the other . Hope this helps.

Q: could i use these rods to hang clay from in an oven?

they will be hard to bend into a hook if that's what you plan, as they are very stiff but with the right tools yes, may be overkill unless the clay is heavy

Q: What is the tolerance for the diameter? Are they truly 1.5mm or 1/16"?

I used the rods for a garden project so I’m not sure if that answers anything for you. It was a light weight project…..

Great rods what can I say. Just be careful I dropped something and tried to catch it while holding one of these and I hit it on the table and almost shoved it all the way through the palm of my hand. It did not bend. Bit!!!
