Q: How are these better than the simple metallic cutters that come without the plastic addition? Thank you.

I feel like maybe that solid plastic part gives it more stability, allowing it to cut through denser things, such as fruits. I have had these for a long time and have used them for fruit, cookies, and pie crust.

The cutting side is metal the top part is rubber

Q: Mine came with two green little plastic pieces. One sort of looks like a food pick, the other one is weird. Any ideas?

I don't know. Maybe the thing that looked like a good pick was to help keep the cookie dough from sticking to the inside. I didn't get a piece like that.

Q: What are the little extra pieces?

One is a good pick the other has a flat end and is for pushing the food out of the cutter when it gets stuck inside.
