Lasted 4 months - unacceptable
Went with a reputable name and product. Right away, this thing is loud. You know it's running because you can hear it from the next room. Noticed my surveillance system wasn't recording, went to the drive and, no sound. Only lasted 4 months and done. Now I need to find out about the warranty on it... Type in the Serial Number - Seagate doesn't recognize the serial number. Still need to figure that out with support, but doesn't help that a $200 drive is now a paperweight...

Ent right in, fired right up, does the job quietly.
Not noisy like some, and it is a Seagate, not an off-brand. Works great in my security system. Plugged right in, formetted it and it took right off. Now if it could just keep my vandalous neighbor out of my yard. :)

Lasted 6 Years.
I bought this in April of 2017 for a 4K Lorex Security camera system and it died in May 2023.I guess 6 years is a good run for a drive in a security camera system. There are much newer drives on the market now so this time I tried WD 8tb model.

Amazing quality storage drive.
I bought this drive to use in a NAS installation. I realize its marketed as a surveillance drive but that also means its expected to have a 100% duty cycle, this drive is meant to be written to pretty much continuously. It should work fine in a nas installation. Also note that you CANNOT boot from this drive, Seagate has disabled that functionality. The drive is super quiet even when its busy.
