Gamblin Gamvar Pict Varnish Satin, Clear, 4.2oz

I use Gamvar on all my oil paintings. It is so easy to apply, dries to a smooth satiny finish and really brings the painting to life. Highly recommend.

Someone recommended this varnish over the glossy one. Still gives it a nice pop with color and some shine but toned down. I'm using the satin from now on.

I paint with water based oil and this seals the picture nicely. It goes on smoothly with just the right sheen.

Yep. Did the job. A tiny bit of tackiness due to gloss finish but not sticky. All good.

This is a great product but the seller needs to package it better. Lost about an 1/8th of the product in the mail. Thankfully the post office put the whole envelope in a gallon ziplock and still delivered it.

I was worried about the gloss formula being too shiny so I went with satin. But have since learned that its pretty common for folks to just do very think coats of the gloss to achieve the same effect. Still works great though.

Very smooth application over cleaned and well-dried oil painting on canvas. The typical and expected results of varnishing are well demonstrated. The satin finish was exactly as I had hoped, a deepened presentation of the colors without shine or reflection. For me, it's the equivalent of how Liquitex varnishes perform on acrylics. Actually, this varnish was easier to apply well in comparison because of it's thin viscosity.

My first time using Gamvar varnish. The satin finish is very nice and very quick drying. I am very pleased with this product and would purchase again.
