Tumble Dryer Teardrop Rear Drum Bearing for Hotpoint, Indesit, Whirlpool Replaces C00142628, C00208205, 482000022961

This part was for a Hotpoint tumble dryer, it was due its annual service( hoover out the unit and clean out the rear 3 bar/coil heater matrix ), The bearing is a bronze type, over time the weight of the drum elongates the bearing downwards resulting in a inner drum not being level to the front, this will result in a loud squeak as the drum rotates. Ensure you unplug the tumble dryer, they is no need to remove the back of the tumble dryer, simply remove the split pin remove the small screw (Allen key), remove the bearing cover (it just pulls off), remove the old bush (bearing), clean the shaft with wd40, then slip the new bearing on, you may need to push the drum upward to ensure the bearing pushes on, then put back the small screw, then bearing cover, then new split pin or use the old one if you do not have one, saves you around £80+ if you feel confident, its an easy job ,if you can change a plug fuse you can do this.

I have purchased this product multiple times and each one has only lasted between 4-8 weeks. At first I thought it was because of wear to the bearing shaft but then I purchased a bearing shaft and one of these teardrop bearings and it still only lasted around 8 weeks. My advice is buy an official Indesit / Hotpoint part. This price may be cheap but the metal is soft and wears out too quickly. You have to remember that these are not really bearings as such. It's basically a reinforced washer where the whole weight of the drum rests on the bottom surface causing friction as the drum rotates.

New rear bearing fitted, good to go another 10 years!

A part for my tumble dryer known as a teardrop rear drum bearing. To me it,s not a bearing butit works, and probably would hold well for 6months. The description of this being a bearing for the Dryier, its a professional good term used to charge a customer. It is just a small bit of steel, with holes in the right places, Very simple to fit.

This ‘bearing’ is not bronze: it is cheap white metal with a thin brass coating. Its failure caused damage to the drum shaft, destroying the shaft diameter that should be parallel along its length in this photo. Of similar dimensions does not make it ‘compatible’ if the item deliberately fails to perform. I had to purchase a complete drum repair kit and spend a whole day tearing down, retrofitting a new drum plate and shaft assembly at five times the cost of this substandard bearing. LAZER should be ASHAMED of themselves. The original bearing lasted eight YEARS. This bearing didn’t last eight WEEKS.

Fits perfectly to Indesit dryer but after 4 weeks has worn badly and noisy again!!! Cheap but not worth it
