Kia UA011-TU5014SWPA Touch-Up Paint Pen (- Snow White Pearl, 0.5 fl oz)

This pen is a disappointment. I followed the directions exactly, and had no problem applying the actual paint. Unfortunately, the paint is water, basically. We have chips on a vertical door surface. The paint did not adhere to the chipped area, but rather ran onto the good paint surface below, which is not what anyone wants. Naturally, what little paint that remained in the chip was to thin to cover the chip. Perhaps the pen works with darker colors, but pearl white did not work for me.

I bought a used car and didn't notice some scratches and a paint chip at the time. I bought this pen and a sanding pen because part of the chip rusted. I cleaned the rust out and went to covering the scratches and chip. The scratches that weren't deep covered fine. The deeper scratches are harder to cover with this paint pen. I feel like it would work better if they gave you a brush option with it rather than just having the pen to dab. I wouldn't really recommend this oem pen because it's pretty limited with what you can do. I would look for other options. I bought another option that has an actual brush with it, and I hope that will give the paint chip a better result.

I bought this product because it’s an OEM touch-up pen and have always had good experiences with OEM paint. This pen is not designed well for touch ups and is challenging to use on small chips. Once you get the paint to come out, it’s transparent and watery, even though I shook it for a while before use. I kept trying and trying, hoping I’d get some thicker, better coverage but it never happened. To use this stuff, you’d need a plain white paint to lay down first and then add this over to get the pearl. Very poor product and very poor customer service (I have yet to get a response to my displeasure and inability to use this pen).

I can’t recommend this. It’s close to being a total waste of money and time. You might cover up a scratch if you apply a 100 coats. I don’t have the patience.

I don't like having to use the pen more than 2 or 3 times to cover a scratch. The color is exactly the color I need for my car. The smell is minimal and easy to apply.
