Works great in my wife's 2011 Forester.
Works perfectly on my wife's 2011 Subaru Forester. Installation instructions were provided, though a few steps were tricky to follow. The instructions are just pictures without much text, and in a couple of cases it was tricky to figure out the orientation of the picture. Overall it wasn't hard to install but it was not for someone who's never taken apart vehicle trim before. There are a lot of steps and small plastic fasteners and you need to take your time to get it right. The wiring harness did have the socket for the connector for the camera and it was filled with a dummy plug to keep the pins corrosion free. Removing the dummy plug was harder than necessary because the clip that holds it in place was covered with some stuck-on padding so you didn't see it. All in all, if you've done this kind of thing before it's not a hard job. If you're a complete novice, it may be worth paying Subaru to do it.

Four Stars
The image produced by this camera is a little grainy, but satisfactory.

Worked for 2013 Subaru Forester
Research indicated that my 2013 Subaru Forester X Premium (without a backup cam) was pre-wired for an OEM cam. The short story: confirm car is pre-wired for a factory backup cam. Was able to plug and play.Longer story:1) The instructions included with the camera are mostly pictures (think swedish furniture store), but you are able to follow them. You'll need:- Phillips screwdriver- 10mm and 8mm socket wrench- plastic trim removal tool to shim out the trim without scratching your car3)Taking apart the rear gate to access the area of the install took some time, but if you're any bit handy/DIY, this shouldn't be a problem. I used painters tape to hold screws from each step and labelled all parts every step of the way to ensure putting it back together would be easy4) Inside the rear gate, there is a harness for the backup camera, it has a little green plug in the end to keep out the elements that needs to be removed.5) Check your Forester, on mine, you can see a little above and to the left of the license plate a plug that is removable where the camera will install.6) Once I plugged the camera in, I tested it before assembling everything back together. It worked without any additional configuration. Power up the car, put it in reverse, and the backup camera shows in the radio (mine is non-nav)It took about 90 minutes for me to complete (non-car person, taking my time to take apart the gate without breaking any parts, reassembly). If you know anything about cars, it would probably be a lot faster.

Reliable replacement
Great instructions but be patient when installing. The product is easy to install once you take the rear of your Subaru apart. So far so good!

Not the greatest, but better than aftermarket
Pain to install and the picture quality is a little grainy but my 2013 forester limited was plug and play. Kudos to Subaru

Work great!!!
Perfect fit to my Subaru Forester 2011. Subaru’s has wire inside the trunk door with cup in the end. Just remove cap and plug in the camera wire. It’s very easy. Just follow the paper instructions. I’m happy now
