Nice value chuck compared to the regular Nova G3
I do have the Nova 30th anniversary edition and I needed another G3 so I won't need to change out the jaws (I use cole jaws as well). I couldn't find the differences between the Lite version and the regular version online so I ordered the Lite to find out. Here's what you need to know:The chucks themselves are almost identical. The main difference is that there are no numbers on the chuck jaw screw mounts so you can mount the jaws anywhere you like as long as the jaws numbers are ordered clockwise from 1 to 4. You get a slightly different set of keys: the key that tightens the jaws can be operated with one hand now (the handle slides). the hex key that tightens the chuck to the lathe thread is just a simple r shaped hex key instead of the nicer hex key you get with the 30th anniversary edition. You also get a spur drive that can be mounted to the chuck itself with the lite version. that is a nice edition that allows you to leave the chuck on your lathe if you want to turn between centers.I think that the Lite saves you a little bit of money and it's a nice value chuck.

Well made.
I bought this chuck for using with my smaller jaws. I was tired of changing the jaws on my older G3 chuck that came with my Comet 2 lathe. The new chuck key turns in the clockwise direction to tighten, the opposite direction of the old chuck. This is a more natural direction but it does take a moment of thought if you have an older chuck. The jaws slides are not numbered like the old ones. I called customer service, they said it doesn’t matter which slide you start to mount the jaws to as long as they are installed in a clockwise direction. This chuck is very well made with a good fit and finish.

Great set, the live center worked better than the one that came with my lathe.
I used the live center held in the chuck to hold a handle. I drilled a hole in the center of the handle from the tail stock while this live center held the handle. The bite you can get is nice since it has 4 points that bite in.

Good value
Excellent value for the price. I got a cheaper no name chuck and sent it back (unacceptable wobble) and then spent the extra money on this one. If you’re looking for a good small chuck this is the one to get. I’ve made some display pieces and didgeridoo mouthpieces (why I got it in the first place) and it hasn’t let me down, holds tight and stays tight!
