Great Versatile Device! Beware of so called “New” items and EU plug sold in US!
This thing is a great versatile device, however the items that I received from the seller (“BUGS BUNNY”) seems to be used/returned items. Boxes were quite banged up with seal on the device is already opened (somehow whomever returned/used this previously was managed to open the seal carefully). The 4 AA batteries were already opened. To add an insult to injury, the charger is for EU 220V (when the description says for US)! Fortunately I can still use the device with regular AA batteries and the device is still ok. Suspiciously the white plastic seems to be reinserted to the slot and yet the device can still scan. Initially I wanted to return this to get a refund, but the hassle to do it made me wonder. I can still gift this to my folks in other country that uses the same plug and voltage. Be careful when buying from vendors other than Amazon that claim to sell items as “new” and lower price. Learnt the lesson.Very satisfied with this tool. On par with Franklin Sensor on accuracy and delivers more features that other scanners can’t. This even beats Makita that sells for more $$$ in terms of value and features.I’m yet to explore all of its features but here’s my takes so far after using it for few days.PROS:- Lightweight enough for its size and class.- Sturdy and portable enough.- Large color screen.- Came with everything that you need (charger, case, batteries, manuals, strap).- Accuracy and able to detect different materials and live wires. (This is what matters actually!).- Bosch Lithium battery or 4 AA batteries. Versatile power source choices.- Audible and visual color indicators.- Simple to operate. My 9 yrs old son was having fun with itS- Has 4 scanning/view mode.CONS:- The scanner often has to go through several rolling to the left and right to determine the material under the drywall as for “warm up”. It may show unknown material when it’s yet to get it: But once it gets it, I love it when it displays the name of the material and the exact width of the material (on the 2nd view mode). It displays it in color as well.- Not sure how well it would last when used under heavy use and dusty env. I guess time will tell. Perhaps the rotary cells will go bust first.- Big Screen needs protection as it’s prone to get cracked if you drop it. I’m pretty sure no one wants to do drop test on this.- $$$$ expensive but again, for its features, no other devices can match for its value over price. I was thinking to get Makita that’s more expensive but this thing is way more useful and cheaper. if this is too much, Franklin Scanner perhaps would be best one out there for way less (of course the features can’t match this), in fact, I’m using both so I can compare the results.- The battery compartment cover seems a bit fragile on its sides. Might want to be extra careful there when opening/inserting the batteries.

Ummmm…. I don’t think Bosch really had anything to do with this product….
Nothing about this item felt like Bosch quality goods. I LOVE BOSCH measuring devices, I have 3-plane, 5-plane lasers, single point disto’s, and other tools…. This product could never had went through there QC department…. I tried this on my 6” slab when I had a emergency copper failure do to pool builders who kinked a pipe that sprung after 15-years, and it picked up nothing that was in the concrete - which really scared me because thankfully I was super careful drilling, cutting, and hammer drilling - because in CA a lot of slabs have high tension cable wires under a extramarital amount of pressure that if you cut through - it could be devastating…. Well I had one right where I drilled and luckily felt it doing my small bit predrill holes, I chiseled around it finding out it happened to be one of those lines. That was only 3.75 - maybe 4” below. It also missed elements in my wall - which Bosch disclaims if multi layered constructed walls are present you may have inaccurate readings…. For +$800.00 - NOT ACCEPTABLE….! For Bosch tools - NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Not worth the $.$$$!!!
Doesn’t accurately read concrete, it struggles with multi-layered wall ( old plaster/metal-link walls, and bathroom tile.I really wanted to believe in this product because it is important to know what is behind a wall. This product failed in places where it matters most.I don’t need a stud finder… experience and a cheap stud finder is good enough. Nevertheless, if I’m core drilling through a foundational wall then a 1000 bucks is nothing compared to the repair cost and my time. For 1000.00 bucks, you better work!!! Don’t know why Bosch is even selling this product. Well, back to just taking educated guesses.

If you need to look deep, you need a professional wall scanner.
Read the reviews carefully. Pretty much everything everyone said was correct. The box was opened but all the contents were in the original packaging, I think it was opened for verification purposes. The battery charger was for North America, so no problem with the extra battery. The only issue I had was trying to figure out how to open the button batter compartment, use a screwdriver carefully. This arrived exactly as I hoped and works as advertised by Bosch. This is a professional tool, and its price reflects that. Firmware was up to date, but I would download an extra copy just in case. The tool registered just fine on the Bosch warranty site. For the price this was a good deal the only reservation I had was purchasing from a seller who goes by the name of my favorite childhood cartoon character. Bugs did me right!

Not worth the money UPDATED
This scanner is nothing more than a fancy stud finder. Moreover, my 10-year-old-school stud finder can point out studs and wiring just as accurate. It did not locate a single rebar reinforcement in my garage and ground level slabs, which I know are there for sure. The living space slabs are 4" per IBC which should be well in the range of the tool. Each and every time the readings are different. Not worth a thousand bucks. Disappointed.UPDATE: Back here after 1 year. I ended up keeping the tool. I found it actually pretty useful especially the raw screening mode. It is very accurate and repeatable, pinpointing stud edges and other stuff behind drywall and pipes in concrete floors within 1/16" accuracy. It's a bit bulky and pricey for sure. It also comes with quite a bit of learning curve and getting used to it. But, in the end it becomes a second nature. My good old stud finder sits on the shelf now.
