Citizen Automatic Men's Promaster Diver Watch NY0040-09W

I had a non lume version of one of these years ago I bought for about £60. It was the non hacking version and the bezel moved around if you so much as pulled your sleeve down. So that being said I was hesitant to buy again even though I knew there had been some improvements to the watch I was still in the mindset of "Its a £60 watch" On getting this one now all I can say is I love it! The lume dial reminds me a little of those old Tag watches from the 90s and my word is it bright! Yes, you can read the time easily as the hands have a black outer line and contrasts with the lume dial enough to make it easy to read. You dont really need to "Charge" the lume but if you do put it under a torch or even just over a normal light it shines so bright. Its a hacking movement that makes all the difference when setting the time there is no wobble in the hands when screwing the crown back in. The bezel is firm another big improvement the only thing I would say is the strap in fact seems stiffer than I remember the old version was. Not really a big deal for me but something to be aware of, its a 20mm strap so keep that in mind if you are looking to replace the strap. There are no drilled lugs so replace the strap the normal way, comes with a standard Citizen box nothing special but overall, for a quality true divers watch with loads of history this is the watch to go for.

One of Citizens best divers, looks fantastic, oozes quality, timekeeping to within five seconds daily, feels bulletproof, got to be worth the price. not keen on the strap so changed it for s/steel one, makes the watch look even better. Lume not as bright as expected , but it's still more than adequate. Very happy with purchase. Recommend.

A really nice-looking, well-made watch, the supplied rubber strap looks great too. The Lume is bright and still just visible early in the morning, although I've yet to experience a decent sunny day. If your eyes aren't great, I'd probably recommend the darker variant. The hands don't hold much contrast on this version, I struggle to tell the time on it without my reading glasses, even during daylight. My watch is also running fast at around 30 seconds a day, so it's not the most accurate, just about within tolerance, though. It's a good watch for the money, recommended!

Perfect summer watch, and an amazing all-round beater! Highly durable, beautifully made, lume is insane it glows in the shade, it is surprisingly well sized and sits well on my rather small wrist, it is accurate and runs beautifully. The hands are black and the markers are slightly raised with silvery metalic accents, it really is a stunner. All the markers and the bezel are aligned perfectly. I own two of these now another one in metallic sunburst blue dial. Great watch highly recommended. An interesting little detail is that Italian navy Diver's unit - Marina Militare - used NY0040 as their designated time piece for a stretch of time. What not to love!

Yeah, the dial is a little harder to read, and yes the lume lives by the motto of live-fast-die-young, but the build, finish, wearing, and accuracy are all superb. This is a 24/7, anywhere & anything watch: beach, bed, bar, bistro..bargain. For the wrist, it should be should viewed as a 39-40 diameter case.

The look of this watch is stunning, in my opinion it's the best in the range, I fitted a black nato with black rings and it really shows off the watch and face, been wearing it five days without need to wind it or shake it, it has the 8204 movement so easier to set the time, the date is very small and hard to read I I don't use them anyway. Overall I am very pleased with it.

Arrivato ieri e le prime impressioni sono veramente ottime. Stiamo parlando di un orologio iconico, il diver per eccellenza, un modello realizzato quasi 30 anni fa e ciò nonostante ancora attuale e piacevolissimo alla vista. Sono stati spesi fiumi di parole su questo orologio, quindi mi limito soltanto a segnalare, al netto dei mille pregi che ha questo Promaster, due piccole imperfezioni, la prima consiste nella ghiera un po' 'ballerina', molto morbida e precisa nella rotazione però purtroppo appena la si tocca frontalmente si sente il leggero 'clang' della ghiera che tocca la cassa. Non un difetto gravissimo, però penalizza un po' la sensazione di solidità che trasmette questo bel diver. L'altra cosa che non mi è piaciuta, probabilmente più facile da risolvere, è il cinturino in plastica che è davvero troppo rigido, quasi impossibile da indossare, infatti l'ho immediatamente sostituito con un bel cinturino in gomma morbida. Merita una menzione la precisione dell'orologio, il mio esemplare marcia con circa + 3 sec. al giorno, veramente notevole; credo che su questo aspetto si vada anche un po' a fortuna, perché leggo che ci sono alcuni esemplari che peccano, e anche non poco, di precisione. Un problema risolvibile comunque da un buon orologio, che con una spesa modica te lo regola a dovere. Aggiungo Inoltre, nel mio caso, che il movimento Miyota della serie 8000 è dotato di fermo macchina, caratteristica non sempre presente poichè spesso vengono montate un po' a caso, sia le vecchie forniture senza stop secondi che quelle nuove già implementate con lo stop secondi. L'orologio arriva, come già segnalato nella descrizione, non nel solito box bombola, ma in una generica scatola Citizen. Ovviamente è anche questo il motivo del prezzo estremamente conveniente. A 170€ spedizione inclusa, difficile trovare un diver certificato con questo livello di qualità. Nonostante i piccoli difetti descritti, comunque, l'orologio è veramente bellissimo e promosso a pieni voti.
