Easy to set up, just pop in the drives, power it up and let Synology’s server-side app find it. Once you’re logged in, set up with your access account, the rest if it is extremely intuitive. Discovering after a month of operation that it’s reliable with consistent performance. Accessing it from a remote location is a snap, be it https, ftp, afp or smb. You may have to configure port forwarding on your router, if it’s not a Synology-compatible router, but you can also purchase another excellent Synology product, their RT2600AC router. Bought it from Amazon, too. It almost configures itself, and the NAS software will set it up for remote access for you. In systems and network engineering for 30+ years, but I’m not sure if I needed my skill sets or experience to set this up. Won’t go wrong with this one. I didn’t rate tech support, I don’t think I’ll need it and rating storage capacity is a bit dumb, you buy the storage you need (big eyeroll here).
