Yes it was made in China but it is sturdy and it is 12” from the very edge to the next edge. I like it because for the measuring that I do it eliminates trying to line up to item with the zero mark.

Great price for a high quality tool. This ruler lies perfectly flat and is very easy to read. Best of all, it starts exactly with zero and ends with exactly 12 inches, so you can easily use a photo to show how tall an object is by holding the ruler up beside it. The numbers show up clearly in the photos too.
