Commercial Grade Water Chiller, Cooler for Reservoirs, Hydroponics, and Aquariums, 1 ½ HP

I bought this for a DIY 300 gal cold plunge. It is an absolute workhorse. It is extremely quiet and efficient. The water pump I use with it is louder than the chiller. In 100F degree weather, I can fill the tank with a water hose and it will chill the water to 38F in less than four hours. I've also used it in -10F and even though all the pipes froze, it has freeze protection and keep the unit's internal temperature above 33F. I will say that when it was delivered the box was pretty beat up but nothing was scratched or broken. I've had zero problems and absolutely love it.

I bought a Plunge Pro which has a rebranded Active Aqua AACH100HP. The Active Aqua is LOUD, specifically the compressor. It's about 68dBa, louder than low flying planes, loud enough to be heard by my next-door neighbors, and loud enough I could hear it all throughout the house. The EcoPlus 1 1/2hp was a direct replacement.. no adapters or pipe fittings needed. I just added the included rubber grommets to the Plunge connectors, screwed everything in and started it up. The noise from the EcoPlus is about 55-58dBa, which is silent compared to the active aqua. Most of that noise is coming from the fan, not the compressor. This means there's very little that is high pitched and I can barely hear it anywhere. Also, this thing performs incredibly well. The Plunge Pro cools down in a fraction of the time. The active aqua took about 1 hr when kicking on in the AM. The EcoPlus took less time than writing this review.

Do not purchase!!!! If you did, be very careful!!!!! Unit caught fire after 5 months of use. I purchased Amazon’s warranty, but I have to go. Through Hawthorne. They are impossible to deal with. The phone number tells you to go to a website. The website says you have to be a retailer. I don’t have a good feeling about this company.

We’ve had this unit for 10mo now (bought Feb 2024) and could be more pleased! I was esp surprised at how well this unit performed this past summer with record breaking temps and nearly 6months of 100+ deg days here in Phoenix. We run this unit minimum5 days per week, yr round, turn it on at night, use it in the morning, and stays off while at work. Needless to say we have gotten tremendous use out of it in a short amount of time. It also drops the water temp in our ~85gal full makeshift cold tub-trash can by approx 10deg per hr. Decrease water, increase water chilling time. I also followed David Maus Jr for the set up and his Amazon products list for set up. He made everything very straight forward and easy! Highly recommend this product!

I have a 225 gallon 2 person hot tub I've converted into a cold plunge for the summer using this chiller. This is definitely a commercial grade workhorse chiller and has been working great even in 100+ degree Phoenix, AZ weather running 24/7 (it automatically kicks on when the water temp reaches about 3 degrees above the set temp). It is large but I appreciate the narrow/wide footprint as I have it between the spa and the wall. I currently have it set to 47F but it can go as low as 36F. Pump is sold separately. It's relatively quiet. You definitely hear it when it initially kicks on but then its just the hum of the large fan which isn't bad. No regrets, I would definitely buy this again.

The chiller works very well, however, it has just stopped working and shut off and the power will not come on at all. Had an electrician take the unit apart and look for the fuse and he could not find it. Does anyone have the number to the manufacturer to contact for replacement or repair?

Using in a recirculation system just got it up and running this week. Will update after it has been operational for a while. Unit is well built easy to use and set up. Can be plumbed with 1" PVC or Tubing. We are using for water cooled refrigeration equipment. Has been running now for a week with an insulated 40-gallon storage tank. Flow rate to equipment from tank 1.6GPM when called for by flow switch recirculation pump to chiller and tank is 1267 GPH per MFG. The Temp change through the equipment is 30 degrees or Delta T of 30. Water temperature is set to 60f and with both machines running at 100% we only see a rise to 68F. With out this we would be sending 1,000's of gallons of water down the drain or spent upwards of $15,000.00

Really works well in the Texas heat! I only need to run it with my ice barrel 500 for two hours a day and then for 20 minutes before actually use.
