I didnt impale myself!
So I had a storm go through. A few branches on some trees in my yard turned widowmaker. My best friend and I are in the back yard, he says, you know what will get that down?Me: Baterang.Him: No, moron. A grappling hook.So I shook the magic 8 ball of Amazon awesomeness and this is what I got shipped. Much to the dismay of my mother who assumed I was going to pierce myself in a vital organ, or my employee who informed me there were better ways to troll for hookers.Whilst wearing proper safety attire and a helmet, I yeeted that grappling hook with the force of a thousand infants.. so I just barely made it to the branch. But I got it down. And no one died.Okay, so it took several times. But no one got hurt. So I got that going for me. Which is nice.

It pulls it weight for sure
This is a durable product, IT IS NOT aluminum, ITS 304 stainless steel(stainless is not magnetic FYI). It’s good quality and can support 210lbs EASILY. I’m 185, with saw, ax, and all gear I weigh about 207 and there is not sign of stress or wear in 4 climbs back to back. Yeah it’s Chinese, (which is dumb, but it’s still a great value. I’m cutting trees to warm my house in the winter and it’s the best on a budget. It pulls its weight

Hook is good, Rope not so good
Purchased this product to remove some dead branches that had broken off a fir tree and had gotten tangled in the branches below. Got the branches down after a bit of a learning curve. The hook seems to be well made and is a good size and weight for for my (old and feeble) throwing arm -- I had to throw it about 30 feet so I didn't want something that was too heavy. The rope, on the other hand, failed almost immediately. This rope is made with a woven outer layer over a fiber core. The fiber core separated at almost every point where the rope was doubled over when it was coiled up. Since I was only tugging on it with my bare hands, it seems unlikely that I overloaded the rope -- but I see there is no load rating given for it in the description, so who knows? Fortunately, the outer layer stayed together and I did not end up with the hook stuck up in the tree. My suggestion is to keep a close eye on the condition of the rope and don't put much faith in it.

I like the hook!
The hook is perfect for my needs. The rope, on the other hand, is crap. I don't know if that is a safety feature or not, but if the hook snags, the rope can be pulled apart with not a tremendous amount of effort. That's the reason for the 4 star rating. I use the hook to snag items in a crumbling building and pull them out without having to go in and risk injury from falling debris. Because the rope failed, I had to occasionally step in further than I wanted to retrieve the hook with another "tool". Finally had to switch to another rope. The hook never failed though.
