Ok I am the first writing the review for this ...
Ok I am the first writing the review for this item. I bought a 12 v receipt printer and a 24 v cash drawer. The receipt printer could not open tbe cash drawer and I needed this for my bussines. I bought this item and I could get the cash drawer opened from the pc. This item comes with no instalation disk or anything else it is installed automatically by windows. If you want to open it via windows you will have to have an app to do this. If you dont have an app you can go to the device list on windows and figure out the comm port in which is installed , then type windows key and R and type cmd. Then type echo hello>comm5 and the cash drawer will be opened. Note in my pc it was installed in the comm 5 port so you can create a script to open it with a click

Like the product
Like the product. I was looking to install this without a printer or POS Software that triggered the the drawer and had to do quite a bit of research on how to create a desktop button to open register. Fortunately I found it. Steps: Right click on some empty space in Explorer / empty desktop space, and in the context menu go to "New/Shortcut". When prompted to enter a location put: "C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /c echo hello>com6 This will create a desktop quick button/Icon to open the till. Your com may be different. you will need to look at your device manager to see what com number was assigned. Good Luck.

Do not buy!
Did not work. Do not recommend at all. Go ahead and spend the money on the actual drawer. Took like 5 weeks to recieve and then did not work. I did not even want to give it one star, but cannot submit review without selecting at least one 🤬

Worked Perfectly, but lacks documentation
The BT-100U worked perfectly. I am a developer and I needed to be able to open the cash drawer from my own application and not via a receipt printer. I would have given 5 stars if there was some documentation or mention of a special cable that is needed between the BT-100U and the cash drawer. After realizing a standard RJ45 or RJ12(11?) would not work, I took a chance and ordered the "APG CD-101A Printer Cable" from Amazon. Once connected, I was able to very easily open the drawer from my VB.Net application. Woohoo!

It works
It works. No drivers included with the product but Windows 7 picked it up as a a "Prolific USB to Serial" COM port. Any character sent to the COM port will trigger the cash drawer to open. USB cable included. About 2 week shipping time from China.

Doesn’t work with square
I bought this for the square stand so I wouldn’t need a printer. The square app says that the usb device is not compatible :( super bummed

Needed a way to open my cash drawer without printing a receipt. This device works as expected. The device will give you a COM port in Windows. Some other reviews provide some basic examples on how to trigger your cash drawer to open by sending info through the COM port. One issue I had was that I needed to unplug, then plug-back-in the device in order for it to work after restarting my computer. The solution to this was to change a setting in Windows aimed at saving power by disabling USB ports. Now it works perfectly!

These work great but only seem to last about a year before burning out. Just ordered my 3rd one.

Do not buy it if you use square it will not work. It trigger the register to open every time I open the square app but the register does not when I ring up a customer and like it to open. It's terrible.
