Great Slim Tanto
I enjoy Cold Steel products, and find their overseas knives to be of decent quality. I cannot figure out what category to put this knife into. It is 8" overall, so carrying it on my neck felt strange. However, it is fairly light and slim, so as a general purpose belt knife it isn't a good fit. What I found to be the best purpose for this knife is a light weight, concealed belt knife. I put a couple strands of paracord through the lashing holes, so it now rides inside my belt on my left side. In this manner I can grab it with my left hand in a reverse grip, or in a normal grip with my right. It rides well under an untucked t-shirt. Now onto the knife. The blade is a sleek Americanized Tanto shape. It has a strong point for penetration, and a slight up sweep along the length of the edge. The steel seems to be of decent hardness. It comes shaving sharp. A neat feature of the blade is that the edge is zero ground. There is no bevel with a separate edge grind, but instead the edge the same as the bevel. So the bevel continues to the edge on the same angle. I think it is cool that Cold Steel used this in the design, but it seems strange in a knife of this purpose. I usually see this in survival knives as it easy to keep a set angle while sharpening. When I resharpen this blade, I'll probably put a 15-20 degree edge so I don't have to remove as much metal. The handle scales are nice a grippy. There is a nice sharp brick shaped raised pattern on the high spots. It is sharp, but is not raised enough to cause discomfort. There is also half pipe cut outs along the handle. This combined with the brick tread gives a vary sure grip. The finger choil and the finger guard flare keeps your hand from slipping onto the sharp edge. The Secure Ex sheath is an excellent design. It is thin and holds the knife without it rattling. However it can be withdrawn with thumb pressure. The sheath does not have a clip or belt loop, but instead comes with lashing holes and slots. Some paracord and you're good to hook. The design is a good improvement over the first generation. The grips are a big improvement over the string wrapped ones. The shape is more becoming a classy. Lastly the guard and finger choil keeps the hand anchored in place; a real problem on the gen 1's. Overall a great design and good value for a lightweight belt knife, or heavyweight necker. Would recommend.

GET THIS KNIFE
This is my first Cold Steel purchase and it will definitely NOT be my last!!! I saw The Spike a while back and loved the design, but was unsure of the company and its quality of products. So i passed on it. I was recently lookin for a knife and saw this new version with the hard rubber(i may not be right on that material) handle. I always look for a blade that is made of quality materials, is made by a reputable company, and is visually appealing to me. i hate to say it, but looks matter a lot to me. So when i saw this version i read the reviews, which all praised the knife and its company, i bought it. I f@!&in love it!! The knife is beautiful! It's a pretty small knife, very light, very concealable, and very sharp! It feels amazing in the hand, and in any style it's held. The zero grind to the edge makes it razor sharp, right out of the box! So BE CAREFUL!!! It comes with a securex kydex sheath, which is probably the best sheath that's ever come with any of the knives i have in my collection! It locks the blade in securely, has no wiggle, and has a stupid proof easy release. If i remember correctly, it was advertised as a neck knife and did come with a black ball chain necklace. Its a bit big for that if you ask me, but it would make a GREAT boot knife. I, however, decided to lash it to the left shoulder strap of my hiking pack. I have gone on some good hikes and climbs with it and it still has no wiggle in the sheath, and it's lashed on, handle down style, for quick draw, which works fluidly and flawlessly. I HIGHLY recommend this knife to ANYONE!!!

Amazing, affordable knife. Sheath needs belt clip.
As a general purpose utility knife (the only work I've put it to so far) this little bada** is worth every penny of the asking price. The blade is sturdy, and comes shaving sharp out of the box. The knife is full tang, the attached handle scales are pleasingly grippy, and the Secure-Ex sheath is a perfect companion. The only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is that the only wearing option for the sheath involves either a neck lanyard (uncomfortable) or fashioning one's own belt anchor from cord. My solution so far has been to slip this bad boy into an inside jacket pocket, but a belt clip would make even that solution more secure and comfortable.

This is my 3rd cold steel knife all have been different styles and same great quality and why I keep coming back. I like my knives sharp and cold steel tends to keep the edge longer than others before a sharpening is required. This knife the spike is probably my favorite right now long and thin. Totally by accident stabbed my finger real good within the first 2 hrs of opening the package so I can for sure vouch for the sharpness of these blades! Get one and enjoy!

Extremely Sharp!
This is a great buy beautifully made and beyond razor sharp this blade is top notch I have had many cold steel knives but this one was so good I had to stop to write a review and let you guys know if you can grab this one just not by the blade 😂 Its so sharp I almost cut my finger touching it and that put a smile on my face I could feel that this one was perfectly sharpened and the sharpest cold steel knife I have ever got my hands on It didn't need to be stropped or sharpened at all this one was perfect 10 out of 10 in all aspects don't second guess it this is a must have

Amazing knife
Don’t bag on the steel, it’s utility at its finest. Great starting blade, tight fitting sheath. Taiwan is still not China, for now.

sturdy, lightweight
I am a fan of cold steel as they make decent knives for the money. This is no exception. This knife is small, sturdy, lightweight, and sharp. It's overall size is small making it a great boot knife. But it is easily worn around the neck, on a vest, or added to a strap. I haven't needed to sharpen it yet after about a month a normal use. I am grateful this knife is stainless steel, I don't generally have to worry about upkeep. I don't worry if it's a little wet or about seasoning the blade. Instead it just works when I need it too. For the money, it's a worthwhile investment.
