Boker Orca Gen 2
This a solid and rather massive fixed blade knife. Very comfortable G10 grip. Its overall design and materials used will allow this knife to last a very long time.Revised; I originally stated G10 grip, my bad they are Micarta

A Beefy Tool for Real Work.
This is an outstanding albeit expensive camp knife. It's bombproof, heavy and makes short order of all the chopping, cutting and slicing one needs short of the apocalypse. At 6mm thick, this blade makes a decent crowbar if needed however it fits beautiful in your hand, and just loves to cut. It did not come out of the box shaving sharp, but shaving is also not on the list of things this knife does well. For that, I'd recommend a razor. But have you ever tried to prune a tree with a razor? Or chop through the brush? or make firewood? Leave shaving for the sissy blades. This Orca is a stick of cutting dynamite. The handles are fine as they are. Some might want to remove the micarta in order make the knife look more tacticool, but this knife is for serious work, not to impress mall ninjas. Technically the grips are "three dimensional contoured handle scales made of blasted green canvas Micarta." While I prefer G10 to micarta, when either is done right, then all is well in the cutting world. But in my experience it is easier to mess up micarta handles than G10. In this case with the Orca, the handles are done right and even the most uninformed mall ninja would be hard pressed to come up with a reason to remove them. The design of the blade harkens back to the Kukri knives of Nepal. Where this blade excels is with chopping tasks and large slices. It is not the strongest design for gutting fish or slicing onions. The serrations on mine are cut into the right side, not the left as shown in the picture. The blade carries with it old world charm in both shape and feel with its N690BO steel and textured stonewash finish, a classic example of traditional German engineering, precision and pride. The sheath is made by Spec-Ops in the USA and is first rate, if not a little too long. If you actually wore the sheath tied to your leg, and pulled out the knife, some might wonder where the rest of the blade is since the sheath makes it look like the lade would be much longer. The plastic liner demands that the knife be edge to the back on a right side carry. I assume insert can be reversed for left side carry, but it might require removal of a screw at the pointer end of the sheath. This Orca Gen2 is a real workhorse and the Rockwell of 58-60 of the blade makes it good for serious cutting, but still possible to put the edge back on while in the back country. My preference for a general outdoor life knife is theĀ Benchmade Bushcrafter Knife . However, even though the Bushcrafter can take all you can dish out, it retains enough fine accoutrements that I don't plan on chopping down trees or busting through the ribcage of an elk with it. For that I will use this Orca. Or an axe.No hesitations with this one. If you lifestyle can benefit from this knife, then get it and move on. And even if your lifestyle at the moment demands little more than survival tools to fondle while watching The Walking Dead, then this knife works wonders in that department as well.

A knife/tool that will handle all outdoor tasks!
Extremely well made, light in hand but yet feels firmly placed. An excellent tool for the outdoors.Very sharp, laser edge, stone finish works very well for me. Feels great while chopping. Does not leave any heated spots or blister points. Perfect mid-size outdoor tool for the outdoor enthusiast.
