I plugged it in. If it can withstand north Dakota winters it will be perfect. It's VERY bright. I'm impressed with it. If it was going to stay inside I'm sure it would be a long lasting product. I'll find out if it bring outside but shielded lasts. It is very good looking. It comes with a remote to change patterns etc. Upon first impressions it's well worth the money.
