I think more of a fashion statement, I can tell you this. I am 64 years old and I have never in my life found a more comfortable shoe than this. From the first moment I stepped into it. I love them. I get compliments on them all the time. My first ones were brown, I liked them so much I bought a black pair. I promise, best shoes ever!

Is there any arch support?

There is no arch support. They are heavy abd don’t fit well. I’m used to wearing Bobs. These were very disappointing.

Are they large in the heel area? I have a very narrow heel and don't want them to rub up and down.

The heel material is soft and flexible (I like it because it avoids blisters). You could attach sticky Dr. Scholl heel inserts to make the heel narrower for you.

Does the heel fit snug,as not to flob

A little loose fitting for my feet.
