Incredibly approachable view of some of the most important technolgy of the coming decade
Highly recommended for anyone looking to catapult innovation forward using the latest technology. The right collection of topics for any entrepreneur whether at a startup or an existing enterprise that needs to innovate. As discussed in the book these topics, AI, XR, IoT, Blockchain, AV, 3D Printing and Quantum Computing, are each on their way to being a general purpose technology. Now is the time to understand them to get in on the ground floor. Eric does an incredible job explaining at a level that is perfect for those already in tech to go deeper. My recommendation is to read this with the problems you are facing at work loosely ruminating in your mind and let your mind wander and latch on to the thoughts that emerge.

Deep Tech, deeply into this book.
I've only had limited time to begin reading, but already find it a fascinating read. I look forward to reading more when my schedule allows. Will follow up once I've finished. I've been in emerging technologies for the last 13 years and from what I've read already, I would definitely recommend this book for anyone in the industry.

Great for Upskilling for the Future
New technologies are showing up in every industry and role.As someone who switched careers into tech, it’s been a real learning curve. But at least I’m not alone.Even if I hadn’t switched careers, breakthrough technologies are disrupting and creating new opportunities for innovation everywhere you look.At first, when learning about new technologies, I simply turned to Google for help. But I found I wasn’t learning very fast simply because I was overwhelmed by the sheer number of resources available. And that most were written for an audience looking to learn everything about AI or quantum computing and not for a non-techie like myself.I got lost in the weeds over and over.Luckily, I recently found a book written for someone like me that provided just enough information about each new technology.Eric Redmond’s “Deep Tech: Demystifying the Breakthrough Technologies That Will Revolutionize Everything” is my new go-to for upskilling in tech.In this book, Redmond covers seven general purpose technologies that are changing every industry.* Artificial intelligence* Extended reality* Blockchain* Internet of Things (IoT)* Autonomous vehicles* 3D printing* Quantum computingHis goal is to help his readers understand and take advantage of the these technologies.Redmond’s descriptions of each technology are laser-focused and succinct. He states outright that he chose to avoid use cases and non-essential information. And I found his approach very useful in helping me avoid the weeds and actually learn. He notes that he also avoided including use cases to help readers imagine uses in their role or industry.Readers can combine what he shares with their existing industry knowledge to develop new approaches without being swayed by how they have been used elsewhere. And hopefully become a part of determining the direction these technologies will take over the next few decades.

Great read, great information!
Well written and full of insight, Deep Tech is an excellent read for those {like yours truly} who aren't versed in the technical specifics of near horizon game changers. It is plain to see the author's love and excitement for the subject matter. They display a commitment to education and a sensitivity towards decidedly un-techy readers without ever speaking down to us. Deep Tech is witty, topical, and thoroughly entertaining. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in such topics as Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, self-driving cars, and numerous others. From page one, the author demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of these heady technologies with a practical case for their integration into society.
