Z Athletic Gymnastics Cartwheel/Beam Training Mat

As a gymnastics instructor I would not recommend this mat. It is thick, but very soft and squishy, too much so that it causes instability and actually makes it harder to perform the cartwheel. Also, the hands and feet are printed at too much of an arc, and you want the gymnast to get the cartwheel in a straight line. The smell is putrid and extremely strong. I recommend the mat from ECR4KIDS, much betty quality foam and less smell, and it folds making it useful for other purposes.

My main concern before ordering was that I could not visualize the size. I've attached a photo for comparison. I am 5' 1'". Use this mat for children up to 3/4 of my own height. Any taller, and they will need to position their feet to start off the mat, land hands on mat, and then finish off mat. In that case, the printed feet still help the taller girls position their feet off the mat.Secondary concern was reading another person's review on that it was too squishy it was dangerous to use. I disagree. I use this mat to help teach little ones who are terrified of tumbling, not for regular tumbling use. The extra softness encourages them to actually try because it is softer than the other mats!I would recommend to put this on top of additional mats since the cartwheel mat is so narrow. Tumble straight or die :POverall, still glad I purchased it! Two girls have gotten their cartwheels because of this mat and several more are very close to overcoming their fear!

My daughter was having a lot of trouble with her hand and foot placement when practicing her kart wheels. From the very first time she used this mat, she started to improve. The flip side of the mat aslo has a center line to practice balance beam technique. Both my 10 year old, and 3 year year old daughters use this mat. They both love it. I would recommend this to any parent looking to help their child with beginner gymnastics.

This mat doesn't have a seam down the middle, but it arrived folded in half in the box. If we would've stored it that way the foam in the middle would've broken down. I returned it and instead purchased a mat with a seam down the middle. The new purple mat doesn't have hand and footprints, but I put painter's tape on the new mat where her hands and feet should go for a cartwheel. I returned this mat and would NOT recommend purchasing it.

Great mat for my five year old to perfect her cartwheels!Came folded in the box and wrapped in plastic. The crease disappears quickly when you lay it out flat for a day or so. When taken out of the plastic it had a strong smell. However, once you lay it out the smell dissipates.

This has really helped both my daughters, three & six years old, learn how to do their cart wheels. It teaches them the proper form by showing where you need to place your feet and hands when starting and landing your cartwheel. My daughters also practice their handstands on this mat and it provides enough cushion for when they fall on their back when doing their handstands.

This mat is actually larger than I had thought, but it is very manageable. I was surprised that it is thick as well. I thought that it may not be that thick and look cheap. It does not. I purchased it as a Christmas gift so it remains to be seen if it works well.

My niece loves this mat. She uses it to practice her gymnastics at home. It is a very simple mat, which is good for carwheels, somersaults and hand stands. Good for children around 2-7 years of age. The hand and feet prints and beam prints are helpful for thier skill development. This is a durable product for indoor use.
