Worried at first but now the pillows are great
My desire was to have a pillow that was pretty flat and could be scrunched into any shape, which is my preferred type of pillow. After doing a little research I chose Kapok over the other option, wool.I bought the Kapok fill to fill bed pillows. Like people advised, I filled 2 pillows OUTSIDE. It went well. I zipped up the cases, put on the outer cases and that night used them for the first time. The smell kept me awake most of the night. I was very concerned because I have a very sensitive nose and I had recently returned a different type of pillow because of the smell. Anyway, I took the pillows to a well ventilated room and unzipped them and let them sit for the day. That night I thought the smell had disappeared enough to try one of the pillows again. I zippered up the pillow then put on 2 outer pillow cases, just to see if I could smell anything. I slept through the night with no problem. I didn't smell anything. I didn't feel anything different with the extra pillow case on, so I decided to keep it on, at least for a while.Since then, I zipped up the other pillow and double cased that one as well. It's now on the bed, also with detectible smell. The Kapok went a long way. I had enough to fill 3 queen size pillows, one flat, one medium-high and one high. I had a little Kapok left, that I discarded.Although it was a little nerve-wracking, I ended up with what I wanted, a flat pillow that I could scrunch into any shape I want. The other 2 pillows are spares. I can remove some Kapok from them some day if I want to.

Great find
Wanted some non toxic fill for my Avocado pillow that deflated. I bought the bulk pack of this and it’s great quality. I did open in the garage and let air out - also filled in the garage. Didn’t have any issue with making a mess.

Very fluffy.
First, foremost, it’s organic cotton. Which is a definite plus for me. Second, it’s very fluffy. The cotton does fly all over if not careful handling. I used it for stuffing my sofa cushions, and it worked out just fine. So far so good.

Best texture and color but you'll need to pick out some leaves and twigs
I'm using Kapok fiber as an organic and planet-friendly filler for packing fragile jewelry into gift boxes. By stuffing the box with enough fiber that it must be squished down when closing, it works very well to prevent movement of the box contents. I have tried both this and another brand available here on Amazon, which is sold as "Organic Kapok Fiber - Natural". Both work equally well to serve the packing function. For my application the appearance of the fiber is also important. Overall I prefer this Bean Products Brand. It has a lighter color (creamy instead of the brown of the other product) and the fiber has mostly been fluffed and loosened already. It can be easily separated into double-handful bunches that hold together well. The downside of the Bean brand is that it could be cleaned better before shipping. There are lots of included 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch bits of papery leaf substance, and 1- inch small twigs. These must be picked out of the fiber by hand. But the bits ARE large enough to pick out easily. The other brand has no large bits, but instead contains lots of tiny dark-colored flakes that are too small to pick out, so it looks rather like dirty wool. Both brands contain some clay-like fine dust that shakes out and collects on your table as you work with the fiber. I have to keep wiping it up with a damp cloth to keep the grit from getting on the packaging materials. I assume this is soil, as the fiber is probably collected from the ground. But Bean brands seems to contain much less of this soil.As a negative, the Bean brand releases lots and lots of tiny loose fibers that will float around the room as you work. They collect on surfaces and on your clothing. If you don't want to breathe them, you'll need to wear a mask. The other brand does not seem to release these loose fibers that become airborne. The Bean brand is loosely packed compared to the other. A 5-lb bundle is about the side of a standard bed pillow. The other brand is packed more tightly into a very hard and dense cube-shaped bale that is half the size so it stores better, but you'll have to work harder to separate the fiber and use it.

Fuzzy, Messy, and AWESOME!
This was my first time buying this because I was looking for something more natural, eco-friendly, and non-toxic for filling my family couch cushions. It is very messy, and gets everywhere (including in my nose), but it is SO soft! It feels like rabbit fur!I take choosing products for my home very seriously. I don't like polyfill because poly is plastic based. But, I also wanted something softer than feathers and the way they can poke you.I bought a Wayfair couch that had very flat pillows, and look how beautiful of a job this did! Pricey to do 2.5 lbs for 4 pillows, although I wish I had bought more. Will definitely buy again!

Natural Fill
I used this as a natural alternative to typical bean bag fill. You have to pull the clumps apart as you're loading it in to your cover to maximize the amount of squish and fluff. My two little ones have been jumping into the bean bags a lot and the kapok fill always fluffs back up afterwards.

Great Natural Fill
This is a great natural fill. Feels so soft in my ottoman. I would recommend making a pillow/case for it then stuff that into your cushion or item. Just keeps it clean. Also wear a mask and googles if your home is dry like mine.
