This is one of the best tools I've ever purchased. A self-contained plumb bob with a magnet and a nail to help it hang. Traditional plumb bobs are just a string and a weight, where you have to roll the string up around the bob or on it's own just to be tangled when you go to use it. Then you just stop using it unless you have to. This frickin thing is useful and EASY TO USE always! Don't expect it to retract the string and bob like a tape measure. A bob is supposed to be heavy. Just help it in and out of the tension coiled up internal string roll by gently pulling it out and guiding it back in, and it will last you a long time. It's so easy to use that you can whip it out for just making a straight vertical level line on your wall or lining up a picture collage or following a stud down a wall.

It works well. The string re-tractor is a nice feature. The case is a bit cumbersome but does it's job. It's the first time I've seen a flat pencil sharpener. I might have to leave my utility knife in the pouch just to see this thing do it's thing. Would not be too difficult to add string length if needed.

Sturdy built. Semi auto retract could become a problem in the future if it fails.

I am millwright these plumb bob are great for setting equipment

This not only saves me a ton of time by not fighting the string but it also magnets or nails in place very quickly. I can plumb a centerline for whatever quickly and I've used it to help plumb a 20' balloon wall very accurately.

Is so good and practical

I give this three stars not because it does not work. It actually works very well. And I have used it a lot setting frames. I give it three stars because the piece that connects the plum bob to the string is plastic and breaks very easily. If it breaks it os easily replaced if you buy a normal metal one from Lowe's.
