Model TR-7 High Efficiency Smoke-Free Rumford Fireplace Grate.

I just got this yesterday (having ordered it the day before,go figure) and have only had the opportunity to put it in the fireplace, vtoo hot out for fires yet. I am so impressed with the fit and workmanship. there is more steel in one of the bars than in the entirety of some of the other fire baskets I have bought over the years. It usually takes my 2-3 years before they are totally burned out. This one seems like it will last a lot longer. I love my Rumford fireplace, built it about 25 years ago and it has been great with the caveat that if a log rolls too close to the front, it will smoke somewhat. Can't happen with this. I'm impressed. And made in Litchfield, Connecticut, USA; what could be better?I might update this once it's time to crank up the heat, but for now, Wow!Well, I've been heating with my fireplace now for a month or so. If you have a Rumford or other shallow design fireplace, this is incredible. I have always liked the Rumford and was used to the occasional puff of smoke or a log that rolled to the front and made a smoky smell. Never more! The logs feed wonderfully, burn completely and almost no ash. I have had the fireplace for about 25 years, and the promise Count Rumford made is true, no hyperbole.Thank you again, this has literally changed my life.That said, I also added a set of folding doors made by the Menonites in PA two years ago and they made a big difference in closing up for the night too.Now 2025, 5 years in, still works fantasticly, no signs of burning out. If it did, I'd still replace it with the same.

we typically purchased grates that were horizontal and I love that this grate allows you to stack the wood closer to the back wall of the fireplace. The grate is well built and should last us for at least a decade or two. I recommend this product as being better than we anticipated as we have a rather large firebox and this size fits perfectly for our needs.

We have a big fireplace and struggled for years with smoke. We even installed a fan at the top of our chimney to try to draw better. It was loud, problematic, and didn’t really work that well. We got the Grate wall of fire and now, no problems with smoke at all. We don’t ever have to use the fan, produces great amounts of heat and not a single bit of smoke. We say it is our best purchase of the year. Would absolutely purchase again.

7 years after we purchased this, we still marvel at how great it works. Lights a fire in less then 5 minutes, no smoke and lots of heat. Perfect. Our Rumford did not perform well the first year, lots of smoke. We used to light a fire on the holidays or special occasion. Now we find excuses to light it, snowy day, cold rainy day, first day of winter etc. If you have a Rumford , you need this.

It pretty neat. The back iron rods could have been longer.

This fire grate is the real deal. It is very heavy, well built and looks very medieval in a GOT kinda way. Best of all it does minimize the smoke that permeates from the use of traditional crates. Delivery took a week longer, but absolutely worth it. I can see passing this thing down for several generations :).

I just moved to New England and now have a Rumford fireplace. Before I bought this product, starting a fire, keeping a fire going, and minimizing smoke was a challenge. The grate wall of fire is an excellent solution for increasing the efficiency of the fireplace and also allowed for better heat and way less smoke going into the room (especially during startup). I highly recommend this product.*** Update: Six years later ***The build quality is superb. I’ve had hundreds of fires in the past six years. It’s still in perfect shape with no rust or burn through. I’m very impressed.

Works great! I now don't have to worry about logs falling out of my Rumford fireplace. Very sturdy too.
