Best of Roger Whittaker

I was first introduced to Roger Whittaker back in 1982. My husband, who was then my boyfriend had this on an 8 track. This CD is titled exactly right since it is all of his best. We have several others of his but this one is my favorite. I could no longer find it in the stores so I was very pleased to find it on Amazon. Even though it is a used CD it is in perfect condition. One thing I did notice - when I play CDs in my car it always shows a picture of the CD and in this case a picture of someone else is showing and it says country. Very minor issue considering it sounds great.

I bought two copies from two different vendors via Amazon, one for me, one for my mother. They appear nearly identical, but must have been separate pressings, as one album cover is more distorted, whereas the other is much clearer. As far as the disc itself, if you like Whittaker, this has 12 ORIGINAL recordings. Most of his more comprehensive greatest hits collections contain live renditions, or re-recordings, but they don't indicate that on the packaging. This is the only disc I could find that contained the ORIGINALS, as it's a CD pressing of his 1977 record (before he got into passing off live/re-recorded material on Greatest Hits compilations). The only downside is that it contains "Durham Town" in French. I like this version, but the CD lacks the original English-language version. Otherwise, this CD is a MUST for Whittaker fans. I can state the confidently.

I bought this 33rpm way back in time past. I always liked his music. Love to sing along with him.

I first heard Roger when I was very young. My father brought this record home and I quickly took it for my collection. I must have been the only kid that knew of Roger much less knew the words to these songs. Listening to the CD brought me back to those days when music was about the words, the music and telling a story that painted a picture of far away places and romantic shores or small town life. I remember playing this record all the way through time after time. I used to sing some of these songs to my wife and she wondered where I heard them. I played this disc for her and she gets it now. The unique sound of Roger's voice is not heard in music today.

Has the original versions of the songs! I love it! However, be aware that "Durham Town" is his French version. My parents had this on vinyl record and my sister remembers listening to the French version, so it was sentimental to her. =) But it did make me a little sad, as I love his English version. I guess I'll need to hunt that one down,too. But I absolutely love this cd.

The CD was bought to replace the cassette version we had for years before it gave out recently. Roger Whitaker is excellent as a singer & guitarist .The CD is certainly an improvement over the cassette.

Love it! I love this music!

This is a great album of Whittaker's earlier work with original recordings. I have this same album in vinyl...this is not a new compilation, rather a copy of that early LP.

Nur zur Info die CD ist schon lange bei mir angekommen, und obwohl sie gebraucht ist funktioniert sie Super.
