Beautiful version of our favourite
My son and I love this Phillip Pullman series so this was bought as a gift for him.I haven't read it myself yet, but flicking through, the illustrations are gorgeous!

Marvellous
Remarkably true to Philip Pullman’s original: moving, horrific and humane. A triumph of the much-derided liberal imagination, the very antithesis of the despair characterising so much of our juvenile century. Lyra Silvertongue subverts the easy virtues but uses her human vices to noble ends, survives disillusion and tragedy...... learns, grows and clutches at the humanity lost in her parents’ ambition. Not bad for a story some belittle as written for children.

Perfect for a reluctant reading teenage boy
Always difficult to get my 13 yr old son to read traditional novels, but he devoured these in a few nights.

I love His Dark Materials and I love graphic novels
I love His Dark Materials and I love graphic novels, so this would have struggled to not meet my expectations. It mostly did, though the artwork sometimes left something to be desired. A good adaptation of a superb book. When do the next two books get the same treatment?

Bit odd
I love this trilogy of stories, and I suppose I thought this would just be a beautifully illustrated version, but it's a comic-book style format of the story which I just found a bit odd. The pictures are lovely but I don't think it does the story justice without all the written narrative. Just not my thing unfortunately.
